sorry, another GT350 lemon thread from a forum newbie but hear me out..
In the market for a new (to me) weekend, curvy road, fun, street car before spring as last fall I sold my M4 6MT and missed it immediately. I prefer to buy low mileage used just from a depreciation factor so shopping the used market.
When spec'ing out my options for cars I'm currently interested in (GTR, F-Type, GT350) and getting to the GT350's, I noticed a bunch of lemons and quickly did my research here (some really good reads btw), and with my newly acquired information hit the dealer to look at a new (and lemon) GT350.
Lemon summary is:
2017 ~15k miles, tech package (warranty start 8/18)
11k mi 2/19 - noise from exhaust (full exhaust replacement)
12k mi 2/19 - all passenger side cam rollers broken in half (full long block replacement)
13k mi 4/19 - grinding in 6th gear (trans rebuilt)
15k mi 8/19 - clutch gone (new flywheel/clutch, etc)
Ford buyback
Checking the engine codes it does look like it was replaced with a newer "Gen 2" long block, which could be a good thing, in addition to a new exhaust/trans/clutch. I cannot find any entries for any routine maintenance (ford or carfax), just the warranty claims but maybe they did it themselves.
Normally I wouldn't consider a lemon but it's pretty cheap leaving room for other goodies, is the color I'd be looking for, looks like new, warm weather car and has the updated drive-train.
High level this makes my options:
-14' FBO GTR 30k mi (~$60k)
-17' F-Type R 15k mi (~$57)
-18' GT350 10k mi (~$48k)
-17' GT350 15k mi (~$45k)
-17' GT350 Lemon 15k mi (~$38k)
What do you think is the best value or at what price point does the lemon become an option for you? Would you still stay away from it even with the warranty still in-tact?
