FIFYRealistically, a short block is unlikely. A broken spark plug would damage the cylinder head as well as a piston, and chances are good that something else broke the spark plug, like maybe the head of a broken valve rattling around in there. It's all speculation until FORD COMES CLEAN.

Yikes. Finally got the estimate to repair what the towing company screwed up:

front under panel has scrapes and rivets broken
$504.40 part # FR3Z-17626-E
$65.00 labor (.5 hours)
TOTAL $2495.45
plus tax & ss
Final estimate is $2613.81
It'll be interesting if they respond with that - it's basically the force majeure clause, which is usually interpreted as an "act of God". Covid 19 is an act of someone - opinions differ - but it's going to be hard to lay it at the feet of a deity.Buy back was denied this afternoon. I've asked for clarification on why exactly; currently stated as the "Buyback request it does not meet state guidelines."
Code of Virginia 59.1-207.13. Nonconformity of motor vehicles.
Sub-section B paragraph 3. The motor vehicle is out of service due to repair for a cumulative total of thirty calendar days, unless such repairs could not be performed because of conditions beyond the control of the manufacturer, its agents or authorized dealers, including war, invasion, strike, fire, flood or other natural disasters.
I'm curious if COVID-19 has been used to mitigate time the car has been sitting in a state of rest and is being considered part of the "conditions beyond control..."
I'm not sure it stands legally but I'm curious what their response is going to be. I'm not counting on them replying at all but I'm hoping so.There is plenty of lattitude for them to use Covid 19 as an out.
Per FEMA, COVID is a disaster delcaration:
On March 13, 2020, President Trump declared a nationwide emergency pursuant to Sec. 501(b) of Stafford Act to avoid governors needing to request individual emergency declarations.
All 50 states, the District of Columbia, and 4 territories have been approved for major disaster declarations to assist with additional needs identified under the nationwide emergency declaration for COVID-19. Additionally, 32 tribes are working directly with FEMA under the emergency declaration.
