EcoBoost with V6 Wheels?

Last night I found a nice mustang on Carmax, a regular EB with manual transmission. (hard to find any of those in color lately.) This one however looks like it has the 17" V6 standard wheels instead of the ones for the EB. I contacted someone I spoke with previously and they're going to contact pricing.

I would pull the trigger on this car if they could do something about those wheels (not a fan at all). If they reduce the price and I go with it, are there any concerns any of you would have with this?

Also, looks like Ford charges $700 for 1 EB wheel? Is that correct? I see places like here: http://www.hubcaphaven.com/c/383/ford_mustang_wheels_rims.html that are cheaper but probably not OEM. Thoughts?

Just get aftermarket wheels. IMO any of the non black wheels are worth going aftermarket

the 17's were standard on base 2015 Ecoboosts, I have them in the basement. From 2016 on up, the base Ecoboost has the 18s from the base GT/premium ecoboost, the 17's are now V6 only

Yeah what a lot of others are saying and go aftermarket for your wheels. You get wheel/tire sets from American Muscle starting around $1300. LMRalways has stuff on sale too even cheaper if you find some use sets on the forums or craigslist.

Those are base EB/v6 rims, the v6 had a 18 inch upgrade and the EB had the prem rims but that jacked the price a bunch. Check the wheel 4 sale section on here, people are selling GT/PP wheels all the time, plus some times you can catch foundry wheels/tires up there to. a lot of people swap them out.

Thanks, guys. I didn't have a way to see the custom section on 2015s and it's the only EB I've seen with these wheels. Kind of disappointed haha but I'm highly considering it.

Thanks! I also checked the FS section like you all mentioned and also craigslist. Apparently they're in bulk there.

On another note, dealership in town is selling a V6 2016 mustang for only $44,000. Dealer assures me it's not a GT or Shelby :headbonk:

This $44,000 for a V-6 coupe is totally outrageous. I special ordered my 2016 Oxford White GT Premium Auto with 401A, Adaptive Cruise Control, 18" Foundry Wheels, Enhanced Security, Reverse Park Assist, Voice Activated Navigation, and Spare Wheel & Tire with a MSRP of $43,315. I paid Dealer Invoice which came out to $40,945. The original deal was supposed to dealer invoice + $500 but the dealership made a mistake on the order it was suppose to be a spoiler delete car and it came with a spoiler so they gave it to me for dealer invoice. I'm just saying there are some good deals out there if you look hard enough. I got my car from Future Ford in Roseville.

Lol right. I'm certain there's a mistake here somewhere since you can nearly buy 2 V6s for that price.

PS- I do know they have this guy on the lot. Saw it last week when I visited in person

Carmax isn't going to do anything about the wheels or change the price. My wife is an Operations Manager for them. This car is totally within the standards for the car to be retailed. As long as the wheel size is something the manufacturer offers, they don't change the wheels even if they are aftermarket. Since that is an actual factory wheel, it's within standards.

If you like the car, you should buy it. Wheels can be purchased easily. Hell, I even have the original 20" foundry wheels boxed up in my garage that I would sell and I have the original Pirelli tires too.
