Taking an EBM on a test drive doesnt give you the potential from a simple pump gas upgrade. It's too bad that the dealerships put 87 in the tank but they are told to do that. 270ish instead of 310hp 93 on the test drive could make ppl re-consider.
I gave my buddy at dealership grief today for filling my car up with el cheapo 87 before delivery...lol. He tried the old "but we saved you gas money" line, and I just laughed at him. I'm down to a 1/4 tank, so time for Torco and top it off with 93. Then I can see what it really has, especially since my MAP intake pipe will be here Tuesday.

270ish on 87 octane could be a reason why I felt my car faster along with me not knowinv to shift sooner to stay in the meat of the power. I only use 93 octane on z. I can't justify using cheap gas for a sports car. I mean you save a few bucks on a fill up but you get the best gas.

Most ppl that blindly test drive the EB don't know it's not producing the 310 advertised on 87 (with 93 and jlt n bama V2 updated race tune...its night and day from driving off the lot)

4000 miles on my EB manual with PP and I have only had one incident with turbo lag. Shifting hard from 2nd to 3rd at high rpms, when I dropped the clutch going into 3rd there it was...turbo laaaaaaaaag.:( I have learned not to do that again.

If you think this turbo has lag I would assume you have not driven a lot of turbos. This twin scroll is great compared to most

Yeah, gotta be quick. The FFS helps on the AP.

Yea, that FFS sounds pretty cool. I think I am going with unleashed's tune though. I'm hoping that will clean up some of the lag, but I also understand that turbo lag is the nature of the beast.

in fact this if my 1st turbo car ill be owning. i was all ignorant like alot of people saying v8 or its not a stang. the more i read about the ecoboost, the more i like it. in all honestly i really have no idea what turbo lag is. i was just assuming it had due to lack of power i felt. but i think i know now what the problems are with the help of this forum and its members

 we all start somewhere. Turbo lag is basically the lag between hitting the gas and feeling the power...all turbos lag due to spooling time, but some more than others. Trust me, this turbo does a decent job of reducing lag vs others in its price range. Welcome to the world of boost :headbang:

This is absolute truth. My first Turbo car was an 87' T-Bird turbo coupe. Lag for days. It ran pretty good once the boost hit but man it seemed to take forever sometimes. Especially if it had heat soaked in traffic.

By comparison the EB has no lag. I do miss the top end pull that my turbo BMW had. So eventually it will have to be remedied. (Bigger turbo)

After looking at the graphs, I have to ask, why did Ford leave so much out of the base tune? Was it for wheelspin/driveability, or more important reliability/longevity of the engine?
The only logical answer is, they didnt want the ecoboost performance anywhere close to the GT. Right now a tune will give it at least 80 - 90 lbs of torque which brings it pretty close to GT territory.

I think you guys are looking into the factory tune thing from the wrong angle. It's not about EcoBoost stepping on the GTs toes or anything. It's about where Ford can take the EcoBoost in future years. If they gave us all the beans right away, there wouldn't be anything left for them to do until they revamp the engine. This way, they can give a power and torque bump with only software changes in a year or two with a refresh.

Also, unless you are stomping on it from under 2,000 RPMs, you shouldn't feel any lag. But you could be confusing the lag with sloppy throttle response as others have stated.

Livernois +56hp and +87ftlb at the peak with their stage 1
http://www.livernoismotorsports.com/products/2015%2b-Mustang-2.3-Ecoboost-Tuner.html

Bama +25hp and +47ftlb

Woodbine +30hp and 50ftlb

Cobb +3%hp and 28%torque (They expressed as percentages)

Drift office added 30 peak hp and 145ftlb of torque in their last update but I think they are dialing it back a little bit. Just to name a few, there are a few other good tuners I didn't mention
