So I’ve been contemplating the PBD tune with a flex fuel tune but just not sure the quality of my E85 at the only gas station around me is good enough.
So I bought a tester bottle off Amazon and here are my results.
Is barely 70% ok?

All of the stations local to me read this low most of the year & car ran like a champ with a e85 tune %100 of the time. Would only run 1 tank of 91 per year, rest was always Ethanol.

70% ethanol would be perfect for a Flex Tune. That’s what I run most of the time and my ethanol content ranges from 62% - 85%. It really is hit or miss.

I can run as low as 64% on my Ethanol calibration. STFT’s are only removing 7% fueling. Still get full spark advance as well. 68-72% is my sweet spot…….

For a flex tune 70% is fine. Literally any % on a flex tune is fine, that’s the point of a flex tune.

On a dedicated E85 tune (non flex) I personally don’t feel comfortable under 75% E.

I’m with you there. My car is happiest at 70% ethanol content and above on the Flex. When I get into the low to mid 60’s. I can tell the car isn’t running quite as good.

Thanks everyone, all Great advice.
Do most of you that run e85 race or do it for spirited driving?

I run my E85R tune full time except over winter. I store and rarely drive in the winter on 93. I only do this because my local E85 has always been high quality. I test every fill for assurance.

If I was not confident in my fuel or saw it test low, I’d switch to flex. The only time I have run the flex tune is when transitioning off 93.

I tuned for E85 with intentions of racing and just having the car run at its best on a super clean burning fuel. When I tuned for it, I ordered six 5 gallon pails of One Ethanol. I would never run my race or nitrous tunes on anything less than 85% ethanol.
