E85 if stock?

Is there any benefit to running E85 if the car is stock? My local gas station now has it and it got me thinking.

If I recall when stock you can only run ~3gal e85 safely, rest of the tank must be 91/93 over that ratio the ECU freaks out.

If you mean an e85 tune yes you can still get some nice gains from just an e85 tune, even stock.

I run 2-2.5 gallons of E85 with 2 gallons of VP 101 and the rest 91. The problem is you are from Wisconsin and I bet your E85 isn't even E85. Colder climates normally get it down to 65-70% ethanol if not even lower. As Ethanol can cause cold start issues in cold climates. We are lucky here in Cali, as our E85 actually tests out to E85-87 giving us 105 octane per gallon. My blend gets me to 94 octane.

As the previous post said you can probably run up to 3 gallons which will give you E21, which is a bit more than the E15 Ford recommends.

Tuning for e85 while all else stock is probably the best bang for your buck on 18+.

Definitely! Even a 93 oct. custom tune will definitely wake the car up, but with E85, you could see a solid WHP change. Higher octane allows for some timing changes and makes a world of difference. Only real downside is MPG suffers, but smiles per gallon is said to have increased. LOL

A tune and running E85 will wake the car up for sure. A tune it self will wake the car up and if it is auto shift points will be adjsuted as well. Running E85 will make more power as well. Hit me up and we can get you dialed in with a Lund tune and RTD device combo.

One of the few things in Cali that is good other than the weather and the beach. In Cali if its not a full E85 it has to be taxed like regular gasoline so we get the full monty here.

I run water meth on a straight piped car completely legally here. The poor e85 is not too bad of a deal

I run the Ford Racing power kit, otherwise it would be a Lund or other tune with full E85.
