Im tired of the pmas filter! I keep having to re-oil it every 3 weeks or so. The filter just keeps drying out even with my hood vent closed and its also making a mess! Anyone know of a good dry filter replacement to replace the oiled filter? Its for my 2016 gt.

What do you mean when you say that the filter is drying out?

Usually they just get real full of dirt hindering the airflow.

I just let the oil wear off and never re-oil it. I don't want that trash on my MAF sensor anyway.

The oil is there to help filter out some of the particulates in the air. The oiled filters have slight larger holes for airflow and use the oil to help with the filtering process. I wouldn't recommend just letting it wear off and not reapplying it.

I switched to the S&B dry filter which is made for JLT and it's rated for 30,000 miles and can also be cleaned to extend its life. But eventually it will need to be thrown away whereas the oil filter can be cleaned and maintained perpetually. The S&B filter has some approx. 50% more airflow than stock and 98-99% filtration efficiency. Some of these K&N or cheaper filters you need to be careful with. They allow more airflow but also let more particulates and dirt into your engine.

The S&B filter I have flows just as well as the oiled filter counterpart so really no need to have an oiled filter- just more to maintain.

Whenever it rains or whenever I wash my car, water gets on the filter and carries the oil off and falls to the bottom of the heat shield box. Within a month or so, the filter is not blue anymore. I have to re-oil it so often and thats with the hood vent closed off as well. My front grille is open as I have a different mesh installed though.

Hey I know this post is old, but did you put the s&b filter on a pmas intake? If so, how did it fit?

I’ve never oiled my PMAS filter, as it’s a dry filter (no oil required). I use dawn dishwashing liquid to clean it, let it dry and reinstall it. They do make a race version of their filters too that are just a mesh screen.

Something is wrong if the oil is coming off your filter so fast, there should be nearly zero water entering your airbox when it rains.
