Driveshaft vib?

Is it common to have a vibration at 50mph and up with a new shop installed driveshaft ? It's a shaftmasters btw.

Yes bought a bss carbon fiber one and it vibrated. Had to send it back to them on my own dime to have them fix it. Now I have it back (same one), and need to try it again this weekend. If it doesn't work I'm returning it.

So my shop that installed the ds said its the ds and shaftmasters said its the shop messing up the install. I have no idea what to do here. I overpaid for the install as it sits anyway.

Aftermarket DS's don't always work first shot on install. Try having the shop unbolt the DS from the rear and rotate it, or the pinion, 180* and follow the install instructions to the letter. Also, and this might be for manual cars only, if you can get under the car and verify the yellow line on the tranny adapter lines up with the yellow line on the front of the DS, that would eliminate one potential error of install. Clocking the rear bolt holes, as described above, has worked for others to eliminate vibration with aftermarket shafts after initial instal.

If it still vibrates and you're certain it's the shaft, then I would return it. I had the exact same issue, tried 5 different pinion bolt locations, was 100% sure it was the shaft, returned it and went with a Dynotech which worked first shot, smooth as stock, maybe smoother. Not saying you'll have the same experience, just telling you what I did. Good luck!

Thanks for the input guys. I've spun it 180 on the pinion. The vib still present but less now. I have a large vib when going wot at higher rpm now still. Idk I'm guessing it's the shaft. As you can see I removed it and installed per directions as I know the shop didn't.

Do you have a diff lockout kit from either BMR or Steeda? That was the root cause of my vibration after adding a DSS drive shaft.

I have the DSS aluminum DS and I had to reclock it 3 times before I got the vibration to go away. Make sure all bolts are properly torqued and there is no thread locker or anything getting in between the flanges when bolted together. Even the smallest liquid or debris can offset the balance if in between the flange surfaces. My vibration was between 45 - 60mph or so.

Any vibrations over the long hall is not good for the car!!!

It was actually making every panel in the car make noise. It shook the rear mirror so bad I had to hold it to see out of it so I'd say that's not good for the car.

Don't worry they will tell you dynotech is ok and will most likely fix it for free. The company I used was blamed from the beginning. Kelly Aiken @bmr runs 9s with a shaftmasters so I figured it would be ok for me.
