After having 2 DSS shaft failures, carbon and aluminum 1 pieces, I'm going to switch back to my stock 2 piece in the interim.

Does anyone know if someone sells a replacement metal adaptar as an upgrade for the stock front rubber isolator.

I came across this online, and wasn't sure if it would be compatible with the 2017 OEM stock 2 piece driveshaft.

If this would work, I'd like to give it a try and would be a nice upgrade to that rubber isolator.

Current DSS 1 piece failure that will be going back for repair.

Following. Seems like everywhere you look there's a piece of soft rubber in the way of performance/feeling anything from the car.

Nothing wrong with the stock D/S. Mine is almost 7 years old (original)and still performing.

I think just QA honestly. From any large scale manufacturer you run the chance of just getting a sub par product. My carbon fiber one always had a slight vibration from the get go. Eventually from daily driving, something must have kicked up underneath and put a decent size scratch in the fiber which just made the vibration worse.

I ordered an aluminum for replacement, and within a few hundred miles something came loose from within the driveshaft as seen in the video.

I think just do the inherent geometry in our cars, the 2 piece is a superior option for ride quality. The only issue I ever had with my stock driveshaft was the front rubber isolator adapter starting to maul ( 800 whp 5k 2 step launches).

Several of the guys who race at my local track are well into the 9s on stock driveshaft still.

The link you posted is to adapt the stock transmission to a U-Joint, not to replace the Rubber isolator in the stock setup.

If you can find one the correct size, you want something like this.

Flex Joint

I am not saying that one will fit, this is just an example.

The problem with replacing the rubber "guibo" with metal is there will be a significant amount of NVH and driveline harshness felt in the cabin. The rubber guibo absorbs the shock that occurs with driveline vibrations, launches, and shifting.

Maybe a polyurethane unit would be better than rubber - but again, since poly doesn't flex as much as rubber, there is still the possibly of additional driveline NVH in the cabin.

This is discouraging. I was planning on asking Santa for a 1 piece drive shaft. I felt like it was a good mod on my 14 & also looking to do mods that wouldn't void the warranty just yet.

Meh, I would not let a failure or bad report discourage you. Everyone has an opinion and different standards for their experience. My QA1 has been flawless, smooth as glass, and the overall performance and seat-of-the-pants feel was well worth it. Zero regrets.

That's the one I'm looking at. Thanks for your input
