What’s up guys, going to go ahead and make a post on here after making my car look bad at the strip. I got a 21’ GT PP 6-Speed, only mods the car has is a h-pipe and lowering springs. Finally got the chance to take the car to the strip last night and I ran terrible times. I was trying to understand the different modes and traction control options along with the launch control. Let me start by saying I just got this car as a replacement to 20’ after another driver crashed into me, so the 21’ has some terrible all seasons installed by the dealer in the back and I haven’t got a chance to upgrade tires yet. First pass I spun really bad trying to leave at 4200 RPM, in the moment I was trying to figure out how to hold the clutch, brake and gas down all at once, I trapped myself a 13.6. My second pass of the night was even worse, I tried launching the car at like 2500 RPM and the car bogged down bad giving me like a 14.2. I know it’s gonna be a learning curve trying to come up to the line and get the car “set up” to launch but I was just trying to see if anyone had any pointers. By the end of the night I realized I’m definitely more of a roll racer and I have a lot to learn. I need to understand all the modes, LC, and traction control better, even considering just going old school and turning everything off and learning the car that way. Also after my second pass I realized my rear tires were aired to 36 PSI so that definitely did not help either. But anyway any advice would be appreciated, thanks guys.

Turn the TC off and learn how to slip the clutch.

Consider adding bias ply tires out back and try 18 psi in them. Do a 1st gear burnout using the factory line lock, stage and try 4000 rpm on the launch. You’ll have to either slip the clutch yourself on the launch or add a clutch slipper device to do it for you.

It will take some time to get it down using either method, but keep trying and have fun with it.

This too^^ is very important, because with it on, it will hinder the car’s performance, in order to maintain traction. You can also unplug the nanny plug by the air box to turn all of this off. The only downside to doing that is, it will disable the line lock feature and you would have to do a power brake style burnout (which I don’t recommend because it’ll eat up your rear brakes). The better option is to buy a 580Performance ABS bypass kit and turn it all off at the push of a button after you complete your burnout with the factory line lock feature.

I can't help you. But that blue is pretty. My '22 is atlas blue. I like that blue you have better. I'm not a drag racer, and only drag against my wife. I just like the feel of getting there with my 4.10 axle.

You only need the foot brake for a few seconds. Back into the water, apply brake hard enough to keep you from moving, rev to 4 or 5 k dump clutch and hold RPM then release brake. You will start moving toward the lights but this will get the tires hot enough to stick.

Use 2nd or 3rd gear.

Foot braking would work, but we’re talking D4 tranny gearing, so I’m not sure it would like 2nd gear burnouts with a 4-5K dump. I feel like it would need more rpm to prevent pulling the motor way down.

When I use my line lock, I’m always use much higher rpm to ensure the motor won’t get pulled down.

Maybe, it is a try till you find a thing that works.
Don't do a burnout on all-seasons
I'll spin A/S just long enough to clean the dust from the tread. No smoke.

@NGOT8R

Nice burnout, just long enough to get em hot.

If that was for me, here they are.

Daytime run was 116.41

Nighttime run was 113.64
No sorry, I was the asking the op to compare to his times. I've seen some of your runs before!

I’m going to guess he was in the 104-106 range on the 13.6 pass and 98-100 on the 14.2 pass. Let’s see what he says when he comes back here.

With a bad 60 foot time like a 2.3...

He was probably 106mph on both runs

What was your trap speed on those runs?
Bad lol. Thanks for the replies to everyone ! I’m going back out tomorrow for flashlight drags at a local air strip so I’ll get more practice in tomorrow and I’m going to try everything mentioned.
