With a bad 60 foot time like a 2.3...

He was probably 106mph on both runs
I went back and looked at a few old timeslips with close to his ETs with crappy 60’ times and came up with that mph range for his runs.

Bad lol. Thanks for the replies to everyone ! I’m going back out tomorrow for flashlight drags at a local air strip so I’ll get more practice in tomorrow and I’m going to try everything mentioned.

Do you have any friends with S550 Mustangs and drag tires on them? If so, maybe try asking them to swap them onto your car and see how you do. If not, try and line up just outside of the groove, so that you get into the VHT spray and hopefully get a better hook. Try 24 psi in the tires as well if you’re gonna be on the stock tires and trap in 3rd gear (no need to go to 4th). Good luck to you and have fun!

Yea but you can't accurately guess on hilarilously bad runs like he made

You can really only do that on a 'good' run.

For example, 98-100 on the 14.2 pass would be 'about right' for a 1999-2004 Mustang GT.

But I was just assuming he was both consistent and bad, so that's why I was so close :giggle:

I do not unfortunately. I’m going to practice my launches tomorrow at this 1/8th mile event, plus lower the tire pressure to like 20 psi. This event will allow for hot laps. I might also just try going old school and start learning to slip the clutch in this car cause it’s a lot not knowing the system and then trying to get the car in the right “mode” plus do line lock at the line. I did practice going through the menus today so tomorrow should be better. Where I stand right now I launch my 02’ better than my 21’ lmao. Goal for tomorrow is to roll up use line lock. Have the car in drag mode, advance trac off, and launch the car at like 2800-3500rpm tomorrow plus slip the clutch when I need too.

I can't help you. But that blue is pretty. My '22 is atlas blue. I like that blue you have better. I'm not a drag racer, and only drag against my wife. I just like the feel of getting there with my 4.10 axle.
Thanks man. I love this color but unless this car is under good lighting most of the time this “Antimatter Blue metallic” looks black. Cant wait to see the price tag on getting infront of the rear tires repainted from rock chips this season. Then it can’t get ppf’d.

I' thinking of going Dark Highland Green, so is my wife. She once had a Bullitt.

Did better today, got some practice slipping the clutch, got line lock figured out. Now I think I’m ready to get rid of these all seasons on the rear wheels because even at 18 psi, they are spin city. Any advice on a wheel and tire drag set up? what size can I fit on my car being that is a performance pack? Can I fit 15 inch wheels in the rear?

I don’t think you’ll fit a 15’ wheel out back with large brakes. You would probably have to make modifications to the calipers or go with smaller brakes. 17” is going to be the smallest with no issues. Forgestar makes a reasonably priced wheel.

What size gear do you have in your differential. Will you be upgrading axle?

3.73 , would I need to upgrade axels if I’m still NA? But I also was recommended the Nitto NT555R2s for my stock wheels

You want to be very mindful of wheel hop. If you sense it, lift immediately. That is a sure way to kill axles. What you can do, in addition to slipping the clutch is, run a bias ply tire out back. They absorb the shock in the drivetrain and will help the tranny, diff and axles live a happier life. Drag radials are hard on manual cars. I ran drag radials for my first season at the track and I have upgraded Ford Performance axles, but I don’t want to test their limit, therefore, I run a clutch slipper device. I strongly believe it has helped preserve my drivetrain.

Plus 1 for bias plys, the new et street R bias are great tires, Hoosier QTP has never done me wrong either.

17psi, hold off limiter, sidestep n go
Nice rule of thumb was to shoot for 200* combined, so essentially cold track, tire needs to be smoking hot with a long burnout… hot track, warm tire. Used to use temp guns for reading back in the days, can get a cheap one from harbor freight

If you’re gonna go to the track often, I strongly suggest upgrading your axles. They’re not difficult to install. If you do upgrade them, consider all mods (springs, vertical links, toe links, camber arms) you may want to do out back and to them while you’re at it since you’ll have to disassemble those parts to remove and install axles.

I do know about the wheel hop I just haven’t experienced it yet and I figured that was due to me never running a good tire. I’m just trying to figure out what would be a decent size wheel so maybe 10 1/2 or 11 so I can run a 305 - up to a 315 in the back because by the end of the year this car may have an ESS kit on it. So I don’t want to waste money on something that won’t work when the car is boosted either
