Down shifting issues.

Sorry for long post…

I have a 21 GT 10R80 with 8,000 miles. Recently had the transmission fluid checked when getting the oil changed so that part is good.

Hows everyone’s car downshift when driving in town or getting on it (driving more aggressively) and above 55-65mph and apply the break?

I do have my car tuned and very happy with everything. Zero complaints.

It’s just when i go WOT, and when i give it some break, it’ll down shift slow into each gear, not quick and crisp like it use too, then when it gets into 5th the RPM gauge goes up before it goes into gear sometimes.

Then skips 4th into 3rd and will at times get into 3rd kinda rough. It’ll do this every now and then.

At times in town driving it will down shift very odd but it doesn’t do it at all in Drive mode.

Even when I bought the car brand new bone stock, in sport + mode the downshifts would be firm and crisp.

Just like to hear how some of your guys cars downshift and if you have any odd things also.

My downshifts are quite good, crisp but smooth. It’s possible it could be something in the aftermarket trans tuning but really hard to say.

I’m thinking that also, cause when it was stock that’s how it downshifted.
Just Wanted to hear others responses before I email the tuner cause I’ve already asked too many questions and don’t want to be that guy…lol. Thank you

The RPM's raising when going into 5th is called shift flare. It is not good.

Unless the car is high mileage it is a tune issue.

I’ve done this 2-3 times and still does it. I’n Drive mode it doesn’t at all. Only in any of the sport modes.

Assuming you don't have mods that would prevent it I would return the car to the stock tune and see what happens and if it behaves as it should it is kind of pointing to the tuning as the likely culprit.

You could argue that….lol.

But They've been great to work with, respond to all my questions, and the car runs great besides this issue. It’s weird cause it doesn’t do it every time. The last file they sent me everything has been spot on then I started noticing this issue when I was able to take the car out for a few hours and now these things are popping up.
Just wanted to get some feedback from guys on here before I message the tuner.

It shouldn't. If it is stock and still under warranty get it looked at. That flare is the clutch pack slipping.

Get video in case it operates properly when the dealer test drives it.

It's tuned but it did it the same when it was stock.
Also the shift from 6-7 has always had a weird delay.

You ever figure out your issue? Im having the same problem as you were. Happened after I got tunned. Kam reset 3 times & always comes back after a few hundred miles.
