Add to the the title "AND DONT PARK IT ANYWHERE IN PUBLIC, EVER"

But yeah, pricing seems right from ford, typically over a 100% markup for spare parts. Heck they charge $1000 for a crummy cast wheel that only likely costs them $150-200

I'm leaving mine on. I'd just buy the track pack if I was going to store the wheels. That's the main reason I want the R.

So half the price of the car is in the wheels?

Nope. That's just the retail cost. Manufactures jack them up to make profit since most are purchased by insurance companies so they have to pretty much pay the price.

Where it will cost you, most likely, is in insurance premiums.

I see many R's being left on blocks in the near future once this info gets around. :tsk:

Carbon Rev makes retail sets for 15k...with a volume purchase contract I am guessing invoice cost will be below 10k for Ford.

And do what with them? There are only 500 Rs being made per year. It will be quite obvious if a set reported stolen and show up on another car.

The actual carbon fiber material isn't worth much in itself to do anything else with.

I'm just not sure I fully believe the pricing quoted.
the carbon rims are one of the coolest parts of the car...not just because of tech-geeky stuff but because, I believe, they really will add a staggering amount of performance to the car. As far as replicas go...I think there are better looking wheels out there if you want an aluminum wheel.
