Hey brothers and sisters of the Mustang forum. As I’ve mentioned many times on here before about getting out of California, today was the day. Building a new house from the ground up in Daytona Beach Florida. January or February closing and I am out of this state. I thought I would post this here to reach more eyes and ears. I will still be on here just from the other side of the country. Looking forward to some new adventures. And anyone from around that area please hit me up so we can meet up and get together.

That's awesome, would be nice to hear your first hand feedback.

Daytona is nice but between 2 NASCAR races and 2 bike weeks a year and it being a big vacation destination traffic can be a bitch for locals.
I personally prefer the Cocoa/Cocoa Beach area.
Still, Daytona is going to be a huge improvement for you.

Congrats... I did the same move 10 yes ago, only we chose the West Central Coast of the state. Beaches are phenomenal, among other things. We do have boring straight roads, and no elevation changes except for freeway overpasses, but you'll get over it. Just be alert to weather in the summer.

Yeah, I can understand that. For the first year or two. I actually live 20 minutes or so from Atlanta Motor Speedway. Even spent several years camping the infield for every race. Now I stay far away from the track on race weekends.
And bike week, I'd venture to say that will put NASCAR weekends to shame. I've sat on a bike in that traffic for hours at a time. On the highway and the backroads at all hours of the day and night. And, for the record, going up that bridge toward town in mostly stopped traffic on a big Harley with a passenger is not for the faint of heart!
I'm sure you'll learn when/where/how to get around, I just prefer to be a little below there. Above is nice too. I highly recommend checking out St. Augustine when you get the chance.

hey at least he won’t have pg&e anymore and their 47 cent per kwh bullshit!
Running a ceiling fan here is probably as expensive as running your ac in Florida lol!
Property insurance situations is kinda scary in FL though.

you should know-
The area directly around the track is basically crappy. Few miles up the road is way better.

My wife and I retired in Washington state and made the move back to Florida a little over a year ago. No regrets at all. We live in Deltona, about 25 miles inland(west) of Daytona. Way less taxes and nanny government. Our insurance is still reasonable since we're not in a flood prone area like Daytona Beach. Shop around for insurance, and have a GOOD roof put on your new home. We are very 2A friendly, yet the crime rate is low. June through September are very hot, but A/C and a screened pool make life bearable. Winters are fantastic. I was born and raised down here, so it was a homecoming for me. If I can help you in any way, please PM me. I think you'll like your new found freedom!
