Interestingly enough, several locals did some dyno time (again, locally), documented air temps, etc., and while I still thing there's ovb. some margin of error, the Gen 3s were a good average of ~30-35rwhp higher than the Gen2s, across autos, manuals, etc. In my professional capacity, one of my roles is in data science, so I get making half-assed based on too many variables, small sampling size, but it's not too far off from many of the numbers that have posted here.

This isn't my first rodeo, I've had Mustangs, Vettes, lots of boosted cars (some ~800HP), BMWs, etc., I've got a pretty good butt dyno :D
30 rwhp = ~34-35 crank hp. 35 rwhp = ~39-40 crank hp. Makes sense to me with all the updates that were done to the Gen 3 engine. I've always thought it was more than a 25 crank hp difference.

It could also be less drive train loss percentage which is what I tend to think.

Again, you are feeling the A10. I've checked some 1/4 mile times - 15-17 MT-82 vs 18/19 MT-82. Seems the 15-17 can hold their own no problem cause of the MT-82 gearing in the 15-17 (w/ same axle ratios). vs A10 there's no contest.

The 15-17s hold their own vs a 2018+ GT M6, but are still a few tenths behind and 2-3 mph in the 1/4:

2015 Mustang GT PP1 M6:
MotorTrend: 0-60 in 4.4 and 1/4 mile in 12.8 @ 112.2 mph
Car and Driver: 0-60 in 4.5 and 1/4 mile in 13.0 @ 113 mph
Avg: 0-60 in 4.45 and 1/4 mile in 12.9 @ 112.6 mph

2018 Mustang GT PP1 M6:
MotorTrend: 0-60 in 4.4 and 1/4 mile in 12.6 @ 115.1 mph
Car and Driver: 0-60 in 4.3 and 1/4 mile in 12.6 @ 115 mph
Avg: 0-60 in 4.35 and 1/4 mile in 12.6 @ 115 mph

Even with the longer gearing of the 2018 M6, the Gen 3 is 0.3 tenths faster (12.6 avg. vs 12.9 avg of the two tests) and 2.4 mph better trap speed in the 1/4. That's about 30 hp worth of trap speed improvement at that weight, give or take.

What does the A6 15-17 GT run in the 1/4 compared to the M6? About the same?

That's why I said 'can hold their own'. 3/10th is 25-30hp. It's the A10 that makes it quick.

I had a bolt on a6 14 GT. Cobra Jet intake with big oval, offroad midpipe, JLT intake, bullet mufflers, Lund 100 octane tuned w/ a lot of logs. My 18 traps 6 mph faster with basically E85 tuned pp1 car which weighs 140 pounds more. Lol.

It's not just the A10 though. When comparing the M6 15-17 to the 18+, you don't see much of a difference in the quarter mile because of the new gearing in the manual gear box. Ford knocked it out of the park with the A10, but also made some odd choices with the new manual gearbox.

After watching that, I'm wondering if those off manual gearing choices aren't better for FI over the 2015-2017 models though, but that's a different discussion.

C&D got trap speeds of 115, 114, 114, 114 for the m6 gen3, and (the one time they tested) 120 for the a10. That transmission is killer for drag racing. With e85 I’m not surprised you’re considerably faster than that.

Lund had the shift pressures cranked up so much the 14 was a mess without heated tires on the street. The 1 to 2 was a lot of drama @ 7700 rpms (sounded like 12 gauge going off) with the ass wagging. Almost lost it quite a few times. I really needed a bias ply to hook it. The IRS really helps reduce that drama in the s550.

Put the shifter in sport, toggle the mode switch to dragstrip, turn off the traction control ---------------- and hammer it. If you still think it's slow, you must be used to driving a 3 stage rocket.

I guess I could see how a base (non drag mode) a10 with 3.15 gears on 87 octane might feel a little lack luster. The power is greatly altered in the timing on these 12 to 1 motors. I’m hooked on 31-32 degrees off the get-go. ;).

Yeah, my car with the 3.55s + A10, and now with a good 93 tune (and I always run Sunoco 93), a few intake/exhaust mods, is nucking futs!
