My wife was once of those who never wore it.... but ever since we have been together I have gotten her into the habit..... Knew 2 people on separate occasions fly out of the back hatch in Fox bodies during my HS days....

Every time except when I'm re-arranging cars in the driveway. And I notice that I'm not every damn time I don't.

I too grew up pre-seatbelt, even before most of the lap-only belts showed up. And one of those 2-point belts undoubtedly kept me from exiting through the windshield 50 years ago this coming December. I will forever be grateful to the person - not a parent or even a family member - who some years before my crash first admonished me to buckle up when I was a passenger in her car (probably the first car with seat belts I'd ever ridden in). I could still drive you to the spot where that advice was given, though the neighborhood has changed quite a bit in the meantime.

Always. Not using one is just as ignorant as not wearing a helmet on a motorcycle.

You know, if we passed a law that required helmets while on public highways, for all in the car, we could save even more lives.

I do the same thing. It's such a habit that I buckle up when backing the car out of the garage to wash it.
I'm the same way. I am a detailer at a Toyota dealership and I catch myself bucking the seat belt when I pull a car inside :headbonk:

Years ago, my cousin wasn't wearing her seat belt when her car ran off the road and rolled over. She was thrown clear of the car which then caught on fire. Since then she has refused to wear her seat belt. She even had her husband somehow defeat the seat belt alarm. She said she wants to be able to immediately get out if her car ever catches on fire. I told her, her chances were better to wear the belt...not be thrown through the windshield, stay conscious so she can crawl out or not be thrown out and crushed if her car rolls. But facts don't mean anything to people like her.

yes, when i know i'll be going on the highway, which includes my daily drive to work. when i'm just going local to pick up some food, pick up dry cleaning, etc., no.

btw u can shut that beltminder beeping off, it's in the manual. you have to do it individually for each side (driver's and passenger)

I do some of the time. Not all the time. I grew up pre safety belts. My wife whines when I don't buckle up
my friend's mom was pre safety belt. she died when he was really young after the car she was in went off a soft shoulder and barrel rolled down an embankment. she was thrown from the car and crushed beneath it. the driver was belted in and survived. seeing how tough it was for him to grow up with only one parent was enough to remind me to buckle up every time. you may not care about what happens to yourself, but there are friends, family, and others who do.

Always. I never did before the early 80's, but in 82 I started dating an Air Force officer. Whenever I'd drive his car on base, the APs at the gate would salute (the car had Captains bars on the permit) and say "Ma'am, please do up your seatbelt". After awhile it became a habit whenever I had his car or went on base.

In the late 80s I started autocrossing, and being belted in was required. Frankly, to have the kind of control you needed at the G you were pulling in turns, it was necessary. It became more comfortable having it on all the time- and I felt more in control.

In 94 I was in a car crash that T-boned it so hard that it had a boomerang shape. I was sore from head to foot the next day, but that was it. Grateful I had gotten into the habit of seatbelts well before then.

Got hit by an oncoming Lexus at an angle when my HS buddy tried to turn left through traffic in a 92 Geo Prism with no airbags. Wouldn't be here or at least be the same person with out that seatbelt that day. Thanks, mom.
