This isn't something where you can just cobble together parts and hope it works just so you can say "hey look, i spent $2k on my turbo setup, you don't need those other guys." If you just do it thinking you know what you need, you'll have mismatched parts and the car won't run right or maybe even blow up. As others mentioned companies take the time to R&D their kits so that you can do it right the first time and not worry about problems later down the road. I think the single most expensive thing in a kit is the tune file as that probably takes a lot of time to do not counting fabricating all the parts and doing test fits, etc. Id rather spend the money and get a properly engineered kit than go and source it all myself and build it myself (assuming i had the knowledge to do so) I don't want my $30k car to turn into a paperweight the moment i go WOT.
