who do you have doing your tunes?

I notice your Cobb has "includes Map Tune".
Good question. Adam, are you still doing the tuning for this turbo kit. I know you are no longer with MAP.

No I am not. Most customers that have a big turbo usually come to me for tuning anyways.

I notice your Cobb has "includes Map Tune".

Right now, our tunes for out turbo kit are based on the 5862, for either 91 or 93. There is no current in house support for custom tuning if required beyond the base tune, in which we often refer you to Adam at Tune+ for that as he stated. We always recommend monitoring results after turbo kit install and tune upload, to verify that the local fuel quality and ambient air conditions are conducive to safe performance, though we are confident in our factory tunes.

Ok. Sounds good to me. I will most likely opt for the ball bearing turbo for the quicker spool. My goal is 400 whp.

I would go for Ball Bearing and the Precision 5558. It spools much faster than the standard 5862 unit.

Ask them to get you the 5558 Ball bearing turbo over the 5862. Spools much faster and will still support 550whp.
what is the difference just smaller exhaust side?

So what do you guys think about Adams post regarding the 5558 over the 5862? I am not even looking to blow into the 500s anyways so having the ability is nice but keeping some of the stock spooling is good too.

Smaller wheels in general, you will produce the same power but have about 500-700rpm faster spool time over the 5862.


So what do you guys think about Adams post regarding the 5558 over the 5862? I am not even looking to blow into the 500s anyways so having the ability is nice but keeping some of the stock spooling is good too.

5558 is the best turbo for an open scroll turbo kit like MAPerformance. It should honestly be changed on their website as the past 4 or 5 kits I have sold for them have been with the 5558.

I have been sick for 4 days straight, I am not 100% there LOL

Just FYI, they don't have any experience with the 5558. Everyone that is running them are my customers that I suggested the smaller turbo to. I wouldn't recommend it if it wasn't the better choice.

Not really, but I don't even know what tune they are even including with their turbo kits so I can't comment. It's in your best interest anyways to get it E-tuned for your specific vehicle.

So I presume we would just load the tune that comes with the kit on the AP and shoot you over a log to customize it.
