Been toying with the idea of Thermal R&D exhaust. Anyone here disable their active exhaust and regret it? Usually just go straight to sport+ when I get in anyway.

I plan on exhaust upgrades but there's a level of refinement I enjoy about the active exhaust. Will probably go 1 7/8 Kooks headers and an x-pipe then call it a day.

Mustang I bought had muffler deletes. The valve actuators were zipped tied up out of the way. I replaced the exhaust with a borla s type non active. I couldnt see spending that extra money for the valved exhaust. I also purchased an obd mx+ , so I will be disabling the active bit once I get time. It gets really annoying going to settings and setting the exhaust to normal everytime I want to drive in a different mode. Plus the CEL they put out are annoying and take around 2 or 3 starts to go away.

Today I spent a lot of time in Forscan. I can confirm that my vehicle with active exhaust from the factory , actuators zipped tied up, no longer throws codes after I disabled the active exhaust option in forscan IPC module. So now I don't have to goto settings and turn the active exhaust to normal. It just completely removes the exhaust feature from the menu also.

So in the next weekend or two when I finish installing the new toe links and knuckle bearings (depending on my torn labrum) , i plan to disconnect and remove the actuators for the exhaust.

What exhaust are you running?

I installed a borla s type non active cat back. This was coming from what I believe was a pypes muffler delete non active.

So stock active exhaust to pypes muffler delete to borla s type non active exhaust.

Whenever putting in a mode, in always had to go back to exhaust settings and put it in normal mode so it wouldn't throw a CEL code. Changed it in forscan under IPC category and now i have no codes, as it removed it from the menu completely

I think it's a super useful feature. No matter what mode I'm in, I always go to track exhaust. All I have is an X Pipe resonator delete but occasionally when I answer a call or am just in a bum mood, I will throw it in quiet and relax a little more. I always have major headaches so on long drives, I like the option to use quiet mode.

Not sure if it’s worth it to you, but there is a more permanent mounting solution available for the actuators. The price seems a bit higher now than when I bought mile a few years ago.

At this point with the AE being disabled and not throwing codes when it can't read the position, I'm just going to remove the actuators. This way if I ever sell the car in the future, I can always throw them back on and re activate the AE option for the buyer.
