They shrunk the shit out of the Camaro coming from the 5G. Much better overall size now. I took this photo a couple months ago and couldn't get over how absurdly large the 5G was sitting next to my car. Kudos to GM for playing it smart and cutting down big time.

I actually like the looks of the new Camaro. I hate the rear quarter scion window. But that's about the only thing I don't like.

However, the Mustang just looks like more of a purposed real sports car from front to back. The Camaro is compromised imho by trying to merge a few different looks.

Also, the mustang is more flexible in terms of personalization. The car look great lowered or with various lighting treatments, mods, etc.

The 2016 Camaro just looks like something is wrong when it's lowered and the exterior personalization a don't work well.

I think GM did a great job in setting the car up right from the factory. But I also think they missed the boat on flexibility.

Looks are subjective. There are parts of each car that I like better than the other. But the Mustsng does look more exotic the way it's body is sculpted. When I see an s550von the road, it just LOOKS very exotic and capable. Like a jaguar on steroids.

Before buying my mustang I test drove several camaros. Mustang was not on my list (camaro was not either in my early test drives).

The camaro, IMO, is a great weekend car. The mustang is a great daily driver or weekend car.

Silly enough, one of the things I love about the mustang is the trunk... even in my vert, it is "large" (in comparison to other verts), and the opening makes it easy to get things in and out... unlike the camaro.

And the Camaro is hard to see out of... and in the vert, the 2014/2015 models, you could hear road noise from the tires. Not so in the mustang. Although, with the better vert top now, I'd guess chevy fixed that issue.

Good Lord! How can a person see out of that Camaro?
I had trouble the first week of owning my 5th gen. After that visibility was a non-issue. I have no trouble at all. Of course I am 5'10" so that could be part of it.

I'm still having a hard time liking the front of the new stang. I love it from the windshield back even the the roof reminds me of a 350/370z. However once lowered with a set of wheels and a nice exhaust I tend to overlook the front.

It needs the hood and fender lines of the GT350. More aggressive/wider tail lights. Slightly taller rear deck. Ditch the euro exhaust and add a 5.2 L V-8.

I mean this is one opinion.
It's not opinion...

The Mustang and Corvette were designed for an optimal footprint based on the 107.1 and 106.7 inch wheelbases. Both the Mustang and Corvette were engineered with a near optimal track and wheelbase:track ratio.

The Camaro simply strived for the best case scenario. With a 109.3 inch ATS wheelbase, a 63.1 would still be sub-optimal... the 110.7 is just far too big. Many consider 110 inches to be a small Full size platform.

There is no optimal ratio. There's much more to a WB to track ratio to consider. You have center of gravity, weight balance, total weight and weight transfer. All these are a huge part in how a car handles more then just WB and track ratio. You will find out in about two weeks on how your bad ratio car does.

Are you hinting that the Z28 beat the GT350/GT350R?

Oh, there is certainly an optimal ratio for a front engine, rear drive vehicle. There is even a mathematical equation and there is an actual number.

In Geometery it's called "The Golden Ratio". But, you are correct, there are variables that work against the Golden Ratio BUT, an optimal ratio does exist and the Mustang and Corvette are the closest front engine, rear drive vehicles of the modern age. The GT350 and Z06 have increase the track width to take advantage of the base vehicles near optimal foot print. The GT350 and Z06 have nearly achieved an optimal footprint... they are fine examples of this very topic....

Edit: The optimal wheelbase and track ratio is 1.618 btw.

No, the GT350 and Z06 are both close to being optimal. The Mustang GT actually has a better wheelbase:track ratio than the C7 BUT, as he says, variables will deduct performance from your geometrically optimal platform.

In this case, the slightly better footprint lost to output, tire, weight, CG, Roll center, distribution... the Z06 has a laundry list of advantages...

The Camaro is in a COMPLETELY different league than the Mustang and Corvette.

Ford is going to meet the $77,000 2015 z28 in a Head to Head with a $56,000, 2016 GT350TP, not the R. There is an R shortage so no R for the z28... Doesn't matter, it will win anyway...

There is a Porsche Head to Head the GT350R is used in... There are not many z28's that will be put against the GT350. There are other contenders that have been selected...

So, if this is all we get until May, only a GT350TP vs. z28 will be on display.
