Diff Gear Swap

Is there an obvious go to company that can perform a gear swap in an S550 super 8.8? The shipping would probably kill you, but I want look into having somebody do it before I try it myself.

There should be many 4x4 shops up in mini-snow-ta. Find one with a good rep.

Any real gearhead mechanic that rebuilds engines and transmissions most likely does differentials also. Check around town or talk to others that have had such work done...good luck.

Look for shops in town. There should be a solid one in your area.

Just purchase a loaded Super 8.8 rear pumpkin and swap the entire pumpkins - easiest thing to do instead of being concerned with shops, who's setting up gears properly, who's going to screw you outta $$$, or if the pinion was not properly loaded, etc...

The below link is just an example... search the many Mustang vendors for loaded 8.8's for brand new units.

Or if you can find a trustworthy salvage/recycler that sells a complete rear diff is another way to go. LKQ, Parts Farm and there's a few others to be found online that are reputable.

what gearset are you targeting?

Steeda builds them all the time for in-house consumption. But it is a VERY expensive proposition.

Im looking to do same swap. It states fits "34 spline axles", do 2021 GT-non pp cars have these stock axles? or only PP cars. Will the swap require 34 spline axles?

All of the super 8.8's have the same spline.

Mine is --> the 3.15 aluminum housing rearend a Super 8.8??? Im not sure, need clarification

All S550 mustangs have the super 8.8. The problem with the 3.15 is you need a different carrier or actual differential in order to run taller gears. Good news is they are cheap, last I looked around 250.
