Thanks for the ADS clip, Deyon. Obviously, I didn't watch it before trying the stuff out but hey, real men never read the directions or the manual, right? <grinning>

So..

I can see that it does what it says if you apply it correctly, no high spots, etc., but the big question for me is, how long will it last and will that time be long enough to justify the extra work. Vid says an extra ten minutes is all you need to properly clean the tire but that's not realistic for this OG.

If it will hold up for a couple months it would be worth it and therefive, I will wait and see. If not, I'll just go back to OGTD.

The prep was on - I even tried using lacquer thinner this time in addition to Tarminator. These were brand new tires, so it's possible that just maybe there was some mold release left over. I'll post some pics, but to be clear I really do love this product. It is worth the extra prep.

My favorite application tool for it is the foam brick that comes in the Color Lock leather kit(yes it was clean)

KB, my application of Ghost lasted about 3 months last summer/fall FWIW. I didn’t really scrub the tires during that stretch, just foam cannon with Shampoo+ and rinse. Tires looked nice pretty much the whole 3 month stretch.

Many thanks for that info, Mark..that is quite a long time. Two questions: 1) How did they look after that time, i.e., still evenly black with a satin/gloss finish and 2) Were there any flaked/dry spots on the tires like in my photo?

Truth is, who wouldn't want to be able to skip tire dressing for three months, right? I'm down for that. However, I'm not down for the Mineral Spirits scrub. So the last question for those of you who have used and are using Ghost is, does a product like Tarminator actually pull out all the previous dressing material?

If I can get away with just a rattle can and a towel once every three months, I think I'm a candidate. Odds are just applying to a washed tire was insufficient and the product flaked off where there was heavy previous dressing underneath.

For me, dressing tires is kind of a Zen thing so I don't mind a quick wipe down with dressing after a wash. But, I wouldn't complain if I could skip it for three months at a time.

No flaking or peeling or anything like that. Still had a satin type finish, although it was starting to diminish a bit. But, you could still tell there was a dressing on the tire. Had it been earlier in the season, I probably would’ve stripped it off and put a fresh coat on.

You're probably going to do this already but make sure you scrub your new tires well with mineral spirits or Stoners Tar remover. I didn't do that on the new tires I put on the convertible and Ghost failed within a few days. Once I stripped the manufacturing oils off the surface Ghost worked much better.

Try Stoners Tar Remover...it works about as well as Mineral Spirits. Mark is correct, Ghost should last a few months depending on weather.

New tire day is tomorrow! Excited to compare the ECS02 to the OG ECS. I’m hoping the weather cooperates enough next week that I can do a proper wash and get Ghost on them. I have to do the coating on my wife’s Explorer next week too. Her tires will also be getting Ghost

I love new tyre day!

Remember to de-nib the sidewalls for full effect.

Even on brand new tyres, you will still lift a lot of junk off the sidewall.

Truck and SUV tires are the worst. My wife’s Bronco tires had at least 100 nibs per side…it was ridiculous!
