So, I was detailing the car the other day and i saw a little white in the gap between my trunk top and the decklid panel top. I thought, I must have gotten a little bit of polish up there, no biggie.

I come out of work today and walking towards the car I see it again and think hmm that spot must of gotten bigger. I look at it and it seem that its actually the white styrofoam (or what i assume is white styrofoam they put on the back of the panels) showing. It looks like the decklid panel is drooping a little bit in the middle towards the camera as it is definitely tucked up much tighter at the corners. Is this normal, is it only attached by glue there that may be peeling off? I dont remember seeing it but I also didnt look too closely at it bc the first month of having my car was heavy pollen season where washes are futile.

Here are some pics, sorry for the quality as I only get home right as the sun is going down and its a tricky spot to capture. the overexposed white is what seems to be the styrofoam.

I think the white tape you see is double sided tape.
There are some screws holding the plastic to the metal I believe.

I do park in an uncovered parking lot that has some decent sun exposure, could this tape be failing? I can push upon the middle and it does move back up, it does not do this in the corners.

I got the same issue with mine but it isn't very visible so I am just leaving it alone.

Mine does the same thing, right above the camera. I can get a small grip on it with my fat finger. Was considering taking it by Ford dealer and seeing what they say.

I bet they go look at othe Mustangs on the lot, come back and try to say it's normal because other cars are the same. Seems to be the "go to" response. Good luck.

I had the same issue when installing my new Ford Racing blank decklid.

I moved the foam strip back a few millimeters so it was out of view when installed.

Had same issue, took It to the local dealer and they replaced the whole decklid no problem under warranty as the adhesive had failed ,they (ford) cuts cost by swapping your emblem over to the new decklid and shipping the new one back.
