Anyone else have a decklid out of alignment this bad? I see what appears to be bump stop adjustment, but it appears it would raise the lid in the middle rather than the corner where the deck meets the quarter.

There are adjustments at those corners, they are located on the hinge, it’s like a set screw/bolt type of adjustment. Be warned though that if you attempt to turn or adjust it, since it was painted with the body, the paint will chip off...

My 2016 was slightly misaligned - my fix was to open the trunk lid, grasp it from both sides of the lid (picture your arms wide and grabbing each side of the lid) hold and give it a slight tweak in the direction I needed the gap to be better (so carefully tweaking the lid in a twist like motion). Slowly close it and see if the gap changed, if so, done deal... if not, try again.

The rubber bump stops at the underside edge of the trunk lid will only raise or lower the height of the lid off of the point where it makes contact with the rear bumper cover. The higher the lid is raised, also the harder it will be to make the latch work...then you have to adjust the latch mechanism...

It’s all trial and error in those adjustments.

Ford, and their quality are really letting their Mustang customers down. My trunk lid is fine (at least I think it is, I'm going to look at it closer now), but the hood isn't aligned worth a damn. The Flat Rock employees and the QC people need to get their chit together. I don't know what's happened to them since my '13 GT. It was put together right.

Cobra, I'm letting my dealers body shop take care of the hood. You may want to check with yours to see what they say before trying a DIY project. IMHO

Oh for sure as far as going to a Dealer for any body panel issues where warrantable, but in my case, I did it myself. Even if a Dealer is to try to align the upper corners of the trunk lid, they will have to mess with the hinge bolts and the set screw - which means, the paint will get chipped in the process, there’s no way to avoid it (and they are supposed to use touch up paint if that happens).

The QC on my 2016 as far as body panel alignment (doors, rockers, and bumper covers) was spot on - but my trunk lid was just like the OP had posted.

Too bad the driveline vibe with my 2016 was not QC’d, spot on or even fixable - therefore the 2016 was bought back by Ford and replaced with my current 2018.

The overall panels on the 2018 are in good order, even trunk lid.

Pretty easy fix. I just adjusted the bump stops up. Here are before and after pics.
