The dealer I took it to was not interested in rectifying the issue, so I set out to fix it myself. This fix made the gap about 90% better. Still not perfect, but I'm much happier with it now.
On my 2016 GT, the rear trim below the decklid is held on with foam adhesive tape and two plastic spring clips molded into the trim piece. The plastic clips were not "sprung" and instead acted more like alignment pins. As a result, they were not actively holding the center of the trim piece tight against the metal of the decklid.
The fix was simple. I took a zip tie and fished it through the plastic clip in such a way that, when tightened, it would bend the retainer portion of the clip outward causing it to capture the decklid metal. I firmly pressed on the trim piece from the outside at the same time I tightened the zip tie. I did this for both clips on either side of the camera. It seems to be holding well so far and the gap is nearly gone.
I hope this helps others fix the unsightly gap on the back.
