My Ecoboost was sideswiped and totaled last week , insurance is giving me over Kelly blue book for a 2015, was wondering if I should get another Ecoboost or upgrade to a used GT. I really enjoyed the Ecoboost and did a lot of custom stuff to it. Everyone says go for the GT. I also thought about blasphemy a Camaro , but being 6’4 230 ish , the cabin seems cramped to me and the headroom issue. At red lights I also had to duck to see the red light. I also thought about something out of the box like the Kia Stinger. Any suggestions would be helpful

I’d go with another Mustang if you loved your old one, but test drive a GT to see if you like that much more than your old EB.
You should test drive a Genesis G70 if you’re considering a stinger. Almost the same car but a little lighter and better build/interior quality. Price isn’t *that* much more.

I traded my ecoboost for a GT. The eco was fun to drive I could feel the weight difference on the nose! I love the GT the power is amazing and of course the sound! It’s your preference test drive one see if it’s for you!

I had a 15, had 20k miles and was only worth 16k kbb, kid just turned 21 and side swiped mine and 3 other cars on the road LOL then ran! cops caught him and his uncle denied liability. USAA (my insurance paid me) 23k for the damn car. was insane, long story short I found a brand new 17 model for 23k OTD with 5 miles on it as a leftover last February.
No regrets at all, glad I got another one.

Funny though- their insurance eventually accepted fault and sent me a collection letter stating the cars value was overpaid and they would only be paying like 17k worth and I had some deficit of 7k or something like that. I called USAA and they said "its their fault they hit you, we billed them what we paid out due to them denying liability and finally accepted, we have a team of lawyers, they will not message you further, we guarantee that & they will pay every penny for their drivers damage/collection"

Usaa takes care of its members.

If you was happy with the mileage/power get another EB. do the mods you really liked, or see if you can get the bolt on ones off the old car. I was offered a buyback of 5k I should of done it and parted it out, but whatever.

Just consider- what is it you would of wanted more of? more power and less mpg? etc.. I am minimalist in regards to monthly bills, I want low gas bills etc. so I will stay with the eb for the little less power.

I have USAA also , they said they would pay 16500. I also like minimum bills , so may go the eco route. But will drive a GT first. I think I will rule any four doors out because I don’t need them.

Ask yourself a simple question. Why would I want a GT. What didn’t your EB do that you think the GT. I came from a 15’ EB to a 19’ GT/CS. Why? For me it was going back to late 60’s. I wanted one last V8. The sound and the feel. For me there’s nothing like it.

So ask the question, answer it honestly, and make your decision. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I predict the GT will feel heavy to you - you know the engine is up there weighing things down. But open her up and let the tach swing on by 4k up to redline once or twice for, as Bikeman315 say, the sound and the feel. Throw your butt dyno some meat. This is my second-to-last V8 (2024 anyone?) but I spent a lifetime in 4-bangers before, and I'm not going back.

5/11 and I have the same problem.

Test drive everything that tickles your fancy. Audi RS3 is worth a hard look. IMO the Kia Stinger is overpriced, as nice a car that it is but maybe the used prices are reasonable.

EB/PP vs GT has been debated a million times over. The EB has a definite advantage in balance and 'nimble' feel over GT. If Mustang and you have no plans to replace suspension, definitely get Magneride.

IMO the VW GTI is a royal hoot and big+tall friendly. But it's a 4-door hatch and might offend your sensibilities - buy a 2017 or newer.

If you enjoyed your '15 EB, you'll for sure like the '18+ EB. The new '19s are selling at nice discounts.

EB HPP?

I'd like to test drive one for kicks, but I doubt I'll ever see one on a lot.

My wife totaled our 2006 Mustang GT convertible. She considered other vehicles. But we both love convertibles.

When I mentioned an EB for her next one, she stated she did not want a "4 banger". I told her the EB power is approx the same as her old GT was, she test drove it and fell in love with the EB.

Its her daily and she goes to shows with me when I take mine out.

As everyone states, it does not have the GT "rumble" but we took it from Orlando to Jax (me driving) doing 80 MPH and got 30+ MPG. The A10 is great and I fell in love with the car.

just my .02

I went from a ecoboost to a GT. Differences were obviously the engine, the weight on the nose, the power, gas mileage, insurance (though that is different for everyone. Mine only raised $5 or so lol) and of course the price.

I mean honestly, coming from a shitbox, the ecoboost was pretty damn fast for me. The GT is also fast, but i also never really push it to it's limits so I could probably still be content with the ecoboost. One of the things about the ecoboost i didn't like was the sound. There's just no exhaust out there that sounds good. But if none of that stuff matters to you I would just get another eco (or another car entirely).

I used to be a 4banger turbo guy my first car was 2005 SRT4 ACR with the mopar stage 2 and ran high 12s a couple times. I then got my first mustang with 5.0 in it and have never looked back. Sure the power is great the fuel economy is not bad I could get 28mpg while roadtripping and run 87 octane. The real reason is the sound. There is very few cars that I like the exhaust more than the coyote motor.
