v6 Cheaper to maintain, and its the entry level trim.

Get the eco if:
A lot of highway driving (noticeably better mpg)
She wants to mod
Isn't it the other way around? Both cars will get 30+ mpg on the highway. Eco will have a higher city mpg if you drive nicely.

I'm late to the thread but just gonna reiterate the main points for V6 (yeah I have one so i'm biased). Cheaper buy and maintenance and its bulletproof. Those were my reasoning for getting it new but I feel its more true when buying a used car.

Another X factor is insurance for a young person. Females generally get more favorable rates but insurance companies, generally, frown on the word "turbo"......

If its luxuries that withhold you from going the V6 route, you can always install leather, Sync3 (or other radio).I've never driven the EB, so I can't say anything about the power train.

If you want to drive to Ohio, I'm considering selling my V6 premium with leather and Sync3 w /NAV. Only 5600k miles, has the luxuries, but its a stick.

Turbos are everywhere now, including econoboxes. With that said, my GT was only $4 a month more to ensure than my EB.:D

Turbos are everywhere because they make POWAH, are RELIABLE, and are EFFICIENT. End of story.

Just as relevant as my northern accent of the word power. ;)

Or

Just as relevant as someone who owns a GT giving advice on a V6 or Ecoboost.

I had an EB for three years up until a few weeks ago, one of the first in the Dallas area in November '14 ... so ... I have a little experience you might say.

Plus, I gave no advice. I will give "advice" now - if it were me, I'd go EB - that's likely what I will be getting my daughter in a few years when she can drive. But, either would be fine. I was only pointing out indirectly that the insurance on a turbo likely wasn't going to be "more" than a V6. They both make about the same power.

Yes, I've seen a few of your posts in other threads. I know you used to drive a boost. I was talking about other GT owners in the thread. But also poking a little fun at ya. :D

Although you hear a lot about how "overbuilt" the V6 is... The ecoboost is "overbuilt" as well.

The good news is, I figured. I usually don't type angry on the internet. I think we both use emoticons to try and get that across. ;)

But honestly, to the OP - Find the color/feature combo she likes and but that one. Realistically, she'd be happy with either.

I have a GT.
I have had 3 cars with normally aspirated V6's. Still have one of them.
I have a turbo-4 car.
I know what it can be like to offer car purchase advice to a daughter.

So I think I'm qualified to offer advice to OP for his daughter.

The way the winds are blowing today, she's leaning towards the EB. Next question: is X-plan a good deal on a leftover 17?

X-Plan probably won't be a good deal. With incentives and dealer discounts, you should be able to do better than X-Plan on a 17, since they're wanting them out of the door.

I have to say, Norm, of all the people on this forum, I look forward to your posts more than anyone else's. They are informative and quirky. Years of experience eh? Hopefully that doesn't come off weird.

You'll be able to find a good deal. Just do some searching on every dealership website around you, Cars.com, and Auto Trader. Like said above, dealers are trying to get rid of 2017s. You won't and she won't be disappointed. The boost is lots of fun and practical for a sports car.

I'm looking at X-plan and $3000 in rebates. I don't really know if I can go off of 'dealer invoice', because I've heard quite a few financial specialists say that the dealer invoice of today is not the deal it was 10 years ago. The internet, and ease of finding that dealer invoice, has forced dealers to inflate the invoice price to accommodate/account. Not sure how true this is, but it makes sense.
