I did every edge that touches the dashboard, the white clips and between the switch and the dash piece. I figured I would hit it all while I had it out again. Sick of that rattle!

I think the rattle that I've been hearing on the passenger side was my lug nuts that the dealer took off when they put on the locks. I forgot they were in the glove box.

One small piece on the right and one small piece under, between the light switch plastic housing and the side/bottom pieces. I intend to dismantle and fix properly some day.

I was getting sick of the light switch panel rattle, so I took it apart tonight and fixed it. Here's what I did:

  1. Test drove to determine approximate speeds and road types where the rattle occurs.
  2. Removed lower panel using body panel removal tool (just clips).
  3. Removed lower left 7mm screw, then popped the 4 clips using body panel removal tool.
  4. Applied sticky felt to all 4 clips and a strip along the edge where the edge meets the tachometer trim ring.
  5. Reassembled, test drove the same road and same speed I initially tested.
  6. Basked in the silence.
I got my sticky-backed felt from a Micheal's craft store. It comes in 8.5x11 sheets and is only $1 or so per sheet. I've been using this stuff successfully on rattles for years.

After a little analysis, I think the rattle was coming from the yellow plastic clip closest to the tachometer. When out of the dash, it freely slides on its post and I can see it easily rattling with specific vibrations. The trim rings around the gauges make some noise too, so once I figure out how to disassemble those I'll fortify those as well.

Clips that I think were the primary culprit:

After applying some felt to the clips and along the tachometer side edge:
The felt works! No rattle the last few days. Before adding it I could push on parts of the dash and hear a slight creak. Don't even hear the creak anymore.

For those that are interested. I found felt with adhesive backside at Walmart. Several sheets for $5. Using the rest on the bottoms of all my chairs around the house!

Thanks!

Yep, mine started squeaking at 200 miles, I'll have to try this. I'm at 650 miles now and it's pretty darn loud.

Add me to the list, except my rattle comes from where the a-pillar meets the dash. I plan to fix it when I install my image dynamics speakers, for now I'm dealing with it.

Wow, just did this last night as the rattle was getting worse and driving me absolutely crazy. I couldn't find felt paper but I did find foam paper with the adhesive back. Did exactly the above and the rattle is finally gone...thanks for the great tip :)

What is the order of actually removing the dash piece. Just wanna make sure I do it in the right order and break something.

1) pull from the bottom
2) undo the screw
3) pull from the top
4) -10) ???

went back to the service center this morning to pick up my car. The work order said there was a repair on a loose window connector.

I started the car and turned on the music. NOPE. annoying rattling sound was still there.

Let's see if Ford can find the problem the 2nd time around

i have been suffering form this noisy sound for quit a while now and here is my input :

first of all i'm from Middle East and we sure have a really hot weather here :headbang: it some time get to 45 Celsius :hail:

so that noise been there ever since i got the car :eyebulge:

this is the first piece you need to remove so that you can undo the screw for the top piece

this is after applying the sticky felt

below are two Pictures which i believe that Ford was trying to fix some of the noise with some white felt :headbonk:

sorry for the long post
