Good morning,

This is my first post on these forums. I just want to go ahead and apologize now if there is a thread on this subject that I missed while searching because I am sure there is. Little backstory: My 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid was deemed a lemon and I am currently in the process of having Hyundai buyback the vehicle from me. During this process, I began to think about what car I wanted to get to replace this hybrid. Here was my thought process...I'm an auditor...not the most exciting career out there but it pays the bills. I didn't want to get into a mundane car, head to a mundane job for hours, then back into that mundane car to head home. There's no fun in that equation. So, for my price range, the Mustang immediately came to the forefront. The problem is, being an auditor, I travel to the clients; whoever they may be for that week. My commutes vary from close (24 miles a day) to unreal (174 miles a day). To put this into prospective, I had my Sonata Hybrid for two months before the engine issue occurred, by that time I had driven 6000 miles.

So my question is, do any of you use this Mustang as your DD or is it your one and only car? And if it is, do you commute as much as me? Or should I just pursue a different car? Keep in mind, MPG doesn't really matter to me because I am reimbursed for mileage at a federal rate.

Welcome! I take that back if you choose not to buy a mustang haha. A lot of us DD these cars, from bone stock base to performance pack to fully blown, both Ecoboost and GT alike. Not sure what's on you're radar? I see you're in Bethlehem, depending where the winter may be the only concern long term, and even then its only heavy snowfall and accumulation.

I probably drive close to the bottom end of your range to work in back in my GT. It definitely takes more gas then my corolla, but in my mind, its worth it!

Mine is my DD. 30 miles each way of mostly highway commute. I have to fill up every 4 to 5 days which is kind of a pain. I would love a 20 gallon fuel tank.

I do not have to take clients out. You can get by if you are only doing 1 at a time. But a sure way to not make a sale is trying to stuff an adult in the back seat.

Also. I have a second car to use in bad weather. Living in PA. No way I would only have a mustang as transportation.

Phoenix, AZ. My GT/PP is my daily driver, about 15 miles each way. It's absolutely fine except for all the goddamn buzzes and rattles which my dealer can't seem to fix. I'll be pulling apart the interior myself to fix it since apparently they assigned a deaf person to be the tech on my case. (No, seriously, I did a ride-along with him to point out all the noises and he mentioned that he had severe hearing damage from years in the military and then from riding motorcycles without wearing a helmet.)

My GT is my DD. My drive to work is a double edged sword; It's only about 6mi one way. So, I have a quick drive but then again I'm not in my Mustang as much as I'd like.

If gas mileage isn't a big deal, I would definitely look into a GT. I have an absolute blast every time I get in mine. On the few road trips I've taken it on the highway, I've actually gone up to 23.3 mpg. Just keeping it in 6th and on cruise control.

Mustang Ecoboost or Focus RS (for extra passenger room). Both would be fun to drive. When you stopped getting reimbursed for gas these cars are good on mileage, and it's fun to upgrade as a hobby.

Yes definitely the GT will be a fine DD. Stomp on it when you want and it gets good mpg on the highway. Win win

Mine is as daily as it gets LOL. It takes me to bike races, and I've had 2 bikes on the hitch rack and a trunk full of equipment and luggage. I fold the rear seats down and my 9 foot 1 piece fishing rods fit nicely.

With the number of miles you're putting on your cars, the biggest concern will be the range. The Mustang doesn't have a a very large fuel tank. I daily drive a GT and fill up whenever my fuel gauge registers 1/4 remaining. My range is usually around 250 - 260 miles between fill ups (lifetime avg. MPG is 22.5). Since you're coming from a Sonata Hybrid, that's going to equal a lot more fuel stops for you.

Perfect for dailying no matter what kind you get. The only problem is mpg and you already have that sorted, so go for it!

What are you getting total per fill up? Sounds around 300 miles?
