Specifically if Ford really plans to end production this year.

I've been planning on buying a 350 for awhile now. My goal was to grab one in a year or two but now I'm unsure of what the used market will look like.

I'm young, (30) so I don't have much experience buying end of production cars. I'm wondering if they'll become collectors cars and pricing will skyrocket. Or, if they'll keep up with depreciation over time.

What do you guys think will happen. Or what would logically happen with 2017+ 350s price wise?

These type of threads pop up a lot. The reality is most times it’s a few thousand dollars separating peoples buying decision. We all have different financial means and concerns. I bought a 20 for roughly 4kish under msrp. Was high 67’s, paid low 64’s. It was the color and options I wanted. I would have paid msrp no problem. You have to take in to account what your price is on you currently enjoying what you truly want in life. There are some great deals currently. The current insanity will pass and things will go back to where they were. If your looking at one of these cars as any type of long term financial strategy, I think you’ve missed the point of them. There way to special to not be enjoyed.

Your 30, put your money into a 401k or SP500 index fund, as much as you can, and you will be a millionaire or more by 55. Put as much in to get your employer to match it. It’s free money. Don’t think about a car making you money. It’s a mass produced Ford, not a Ferrari or GT3 RS. Well except the 1998 Type R I had bought new for under MSRP. They are going up in value fast. I should have kept that one.

I think with the whole Covid-19 epidemic and economic impacts you will see people selling their cars. The car market (new and used) is driven by supply and demand. Right now I think there is far more supply than demand and prices are volatile.

Down the road nobody knows. If the economy has a quick recovery we could see the GT350 prices stabilize.

If I was a betting man I would say the market for the GT350 has not bottomed out yet. But if you want the car and find one at a price you like and can afford, then buy it. The peak driving months are upon us...

Thanks for the input!

I'm in the union, and we have great annuity and pension contributions made on our behalf. Aside from that, I'm pretty frugal.

My wife and I also live very, very cheaply. So we save a good chunk of our money. On top of that (and prior to COVID) I work a lot of OT.

The way I look at a 350 is more of a childhood dream. Same as 93 Cobra or 69 Fastback. But I'm a realist. If they held at 80k used all day I'd pass. Could I buy a 350 with some ADM? Sure. Do I want to? Hell no. I'd rather hold out for a good deal. I don't roll money into cars. Too much risk in my eyes.

They will continue to depreciate but at a lower rate. They will hit a bottom at some time, and no one knows when in this economy.

If you want one to drive and enjoy, you need to get one. If you are worried about the costs, please stay where you are.

It's been great. I can send my GT at any time of day now.

The only cost concern I would have is if they skyrocket to some ridiculous price under the guise of a collectors item.

I'm just glad I have my GT and wide, open roads thanks to COVID.

i highly doubt that will ever happen, maybe to around original msrp. I have a 16 gt vert as well. They definitely aren’t the same animal, but I’m sure you’ve read that to. I have a 69 mach 1 that’s not a numbers matching car that’s getting restomodded with a 16 drivetrain this summer. That I expect to be worth a mint down the road.

I'd love to see progress pics of that Mach 1.

Oh they're wildly different. My thought at the time was if I get the GT, I have roughly 12-20k to use for mods/saving between the GT vs 350 pricing.

It's a ghost town in my area. I haven't even spotted cops at the usual speed traps. It's fantastic lol. It's been great for driving the GT

If you a car person and like to drive, you'll love GT350. I wouldn't buy this car for its value in price. I purchase it to enjoy driving. It's time to buy one and enjoy. 401K, S&P 500 go up and down in time, you'll do well in this regards. Buying GT350 will not break your bank account. Enjoy life, it has an expiration date.

investing early is always a good idea in the long run. with that said the only reason to buy a shelby is because you have a strong desire to own one. the value of these cars skyrocketing is very unlikely, usually only super expensive cars do that. cars are depreciating assets and this one will likely be no different. the GT350 is a limited production car, not a rare car. it will probably hold its value well over time compared to most mustangs as this will probably be the last manual trans shelby from ford and probably the last flat plane crank, but do not buy one expecting to make money. if thats your goal you will likely be very disappointed.

I bought the GT350 when I was 28. I don't want to drive a fast car when I am old.

Bought a 2020 this past year when I was 28. I figured I’d live young and fast for a bit before I get older and slower. My logic also behind splurging on this car was that I’d like to be a bit selfish before I start having a family. Treat yourself out now as long as you can live within your financial means. The GT350 definitely makes my daily 50 mile commute to work worthwhile :) It’s a buyer market now for the GT350 with this economy, I say take advantage of it if you plan on having this vehicle.

I’m old and that really mad me LAUGH OUT LOAD! When I watch YouTube with all these young guys beating the crap out their cars saying really stupid things I have to think for a minute! Hmmmm! Wait! I did that, I said that when I was young! Been there, done that! Yah I’m old (71 in 2 weeks) but I love driving fast cars, that will NEVER change! How I treat my cars is waaay different than when I was young! Hell, when I was 16 I thought 24 years old was to old for anyone to have a fast car! Time goes by faster than the cars we’re driving! You will find out faster than you think!
