Has anyone here installed one of these BrandMotion curb alert kits onto their car? It integrates a front camera to the factory sync screen.

Ill be attempting to install this soon and the instructions aren't the most clear to me. The camera and module connection is somewhat straightforward since you just unplug some wires in the dash and plug in new parts but the part that confuses me is where to tap into power. I have zero experience with messing with car fuze boxes or splicing into cables so I was hoping I could get some help. The instructions aren't based around the whole kit but as two separate parts, the camera/sensor and the module itself. To power the camera and sensor do I splice into some wire behind the sync screen, the fuse box in front of the passenger seat, or the one by the engine?
Should I use one of these?

If your car has the Smart/Safe plan, would be interested in hearing if it plays nicely with the lasers and cameras that are built into the system.

Since you have to run the wires through the engine compartment to inside, you have numerous options of where to grab power and ground. You can fuse and run from the battery, use the underhood fuse box, use the three prongs outside the fuse box and or run into the fuse box by the passenger footwell. How many amps the hot wire pulls, is what will make the most difference dictating where to draw power.

lol of expensive cars don't have front cameras. Corvettes didn't have them until 2016 and they definitely need them.

Not sure why not included when you can get it on a very cheap car....

Beepers though work just as well, or better unless getting one of those IR cameras for $1-3 K
The brandmotion camera is activated by a sensor which also has a beeper, you can just buy the beeper/sensor combo separately. I considered the beeper option at first but from what I have read they are unreliable and can give you false confidence if you're pulling forward and don't hear a beep, then bam curb, would defeat the point of having a detection method in the first place. With the camera it should automatically turn on when the sensor is close enough a curb, but if it doesn't I can alway turn it on by pressing the ok button on the steering wheel for 3 seconds.

This is why I back my car into parking spots... don't have to worry about scraping the front

Yes I know people probably think I'm being "that guy" trying to be cool but there is a practical reason for it

I back in 95% of the time but there are some places that have a one-way direction (front parking at restaurants), which would make it not feasible to back in. I have learned to stop well short of the curbs.

I found it for $400, I plan on lowering the car so it will come in handy
That sounds like a really good price. I paid almost USD 300 I think for a simpler system from aliexpress last year (no beep, no auto turn-on), including the $20-30 I had to pay for a separate camera sourced on amazon. Same reason as you too, but have not had time to install neither camera system nor the "track" springs from FP yet.

Has anyone actually installed the curb alert with the camera?
