Interestingly the test vehicle has the start/stop button moved. Seems weird that would move just that one thing
Much easier to move some wiring for a button - not that it is that difficult to relocate the handbrake.

Maybe those that are now going to cancel their orders will fork out the extra ~$15K and get a 1.8L A5 or a 2.0L 4 series instead of the V8 mustang. I know which one I'd rather have.

if you have a look at the Ford UK website they have a photo of a RHD interior with the handbrake on the right hand side of the centre console
Its probably been photo shopped substantially but it does provide hope that even Ford can't be as stupid as we are contemplating!
May have to hang on to the HSV just in case our worst fears come true
Here's hoping !!

Wondering if any Americans reading this could sit in passenger seat and reach across to handbrake and take a picture?
Would they live with it every day, no I doubt it,

Just tried it on our 2015 and it is no big deal other than not looking correct.
The handbrake is a lot studier than the 2008 Shelby that I have in Perth.
Whilst there is the side loading issue not a biggie.
You can reach it easily and it is slightly awkward.
No different than all the current RHD mustangs out there.
It is about 150mm across from where it should be if they do the full flip.
I can take a couple of photos if anyone wants to see in person.

No, but it would be written, that in order to use the hand brake you must carry a licensed passenger who can engage the brake for you :)

The Aussie motoring media will have a field day with this. It will give them more ammunition to attack Ford. GM will be watching closely and if the they decide to launch a RHD Camaro, I bet they'll ensure it will be fully configured for RHD.

Regarding the STOP/START switch, the switch panel contacting will have to be changed to accommodate the round STOP/Start on the right hand side.

… and which side is the bonnet release on?
On the Ford Kuga (Escape in the US) they kept the bonnet release on the left hand side, however the centre console was flipped. The Kuga is however built in Spain.

^^^^ Same with my wife's Focus. The bonnet release is on the left but the handbrake plus the indicator and wiper stalks are properly set up for RHD. Built in Thailand I think.

Thanks to one of the comments on the main page regarding the centre console, those in the US had to put up with the handbrake being on the wrong side (right side) of the console for 17 years (1987-2004). So I guess we will have to live it until Ford does an interior upgrade .

I was initially quite disappointed about the handbrake being on the other side of the cup holders!
Then I jumped in our 2011 Mazda 6 and noticed that it had the same set up. Hadn't even noticed that before!!!:shrug:

If you look at the LHD Mazda 6's and 3's the handbrake is on the right hand side, while on the RHD versions it's on the Left Hand side.

By now I'm really not worried any more - those first few days I was spewing but since seeing 370Z with the same setup I'm over it.
I never use cup holders anyway so those are not a concern. At best I'll keep my key-fob in there.

I've driven a Jeep for the past twelve years with the same set up - hasn't bothered me in the slightest.

The hood release on my passenger side kick panel, however.....
