Submit that to a ticket clinic so they can fight and win this for you so you dont get points added to your license.
I don't see how to win this, the cop wrote it as too fast for conditions. The evidence for too fast is the OP crashed. Pretty cut and dry.

this kind of stuff is why people hate cops and nobody hates firefighters.
I don't hate cops, or anybody for that matter (OK, I have this one sister-in-law but...). It's just that in 54 years of living, the number of bad situations I've been in that didn't get worse when a cop showed up is ZERO.

The cop did not witness him going to fast. He went off by what the OP said which can be thrown out since the statement was told right after his accident. A good lawyer can say his client wasn’t in the right mind. Explain to me how my brother in law got clocked by the radar and still won his ticket. Cop witness him speeding and clocked him with the radar gun.

He doesn't have too, inclement weather and a crash that wasn't mechanically related. Is too fast for conditions.

I mean you can always argue it in front of the judge but in small town Ga, good luck.

Still, it was in a time of stress, he's a dick for writing that up for 5 over..
He slide across the freeway in wet conditions and admitted to doing 70 in a 65. The cop is gonna assume he was doing more like 80. It's a speed limit. If it was a hot dry day maybe the op has an argument, just remember you can be cited at 65 in a 65 if weather conditions are so poor your driving is now considered reckless

You could be going 25 in a 65 and it still be too fast for conditions.

I seen it so believe what you want to believe.
The only thing that we have here is hearsay and hearsay is not admissible in courts
Seriously, either you’re very gullible or you like to tell stories…

All we are talking about is tickets and providing an option that could assist the OP but it seems like you got butt hurt. Sorry for that here is some lube.

I dont need to make any stories when I myself is witnessing this ticket reckless driving but hey let me drop this before you get upset over something so stupid.

Don't most single vehicle accidents end up with a ticket? I feel like in most places I've lived that's how it goes. Even if you don't admit to speeding, they'll slap you with "failure to control" or some other nonsense. I guess the idea is that you need to be punished for creating an accident in the first place?

Sorry about the situation OP. Shit happens in life. No matter how good of a driver we are, sometimes we can misjudge stuff or just cock up. No shame in it. I feel like people on here love to play detective and decide if it's the tires, the speed, the driver, the road condition, etc. Ultimately it's irrelevant if we consider my initial point that shit just happens sometimes. As long as you learn something from it and survive the encounter, it's all going to turn out fine in the end.

If it makes you feel better, really wide tires are much more likely to hydroplane because they spread the vehicle's weight over a wider area, making the total contact patch smaller(because of how rubber stretches). This has the double whammy of reducing the force exerted on water underneath the contact patch, AND the water has to travel further to exit the tread area of the tire. Add enough water and you're now floating.

I've never had issues with nitto DRs in the rain. Even with my 305s. I also don't run my tires past 2/32s. I spend too much time driving like an asshole to run around on bald tires.

Important thing is the guy is OK, and he didn't hurt anyone else.

Driving one of these cars 70 MPH in a rainstorm isn't the best decision, I'm sure he'll learn from it, the ticket is probably the least of his worries at this point.

I’m sorry, did I spill some truth on your favorite brand?

tread design, tire compound, and tire construction all matter for how easily a tire will hydroplane and grip in the wet.
You left out that the footprint is also in play. Pretty much the deeper the water the better the chance a car will hydroplane.
