Crank relearn necessary after OPG install??

Just like the title says... I’m wondering, if a crank relearn is necessary after a opg install? If so, what is the process like exactly?

I only partially understand what a crank relearn is actually doing... not quite sure why it would be necessary but I wanted to be sure.

I didn't have to do a relearn with either the OPG, or when adding a torque converter.
