Exactly.

I understand and am okay that google, amazon, etc are using my usage data as long as it is anonymous. It is because in return, I get to experience my mustang like no one has been able to in previous generations, sharing ideas, info, tech, how to, repair tips, and passion and interest 24/7 on the internet, with people who I would have never met if it weren't for mustang6g.
I'm pretty sure that the data is not kept anonymous, its often shared and bought among third-parties. What is even worse is that the data collection has made it's way into vehicles under the guise of apps.

Most of us who have a problem with surveillance grew up in the cold war era. We know how dangerous it is, whether done by Government or by private companies who report to Gov.

You have nothing to hide until someone puts his or her name on a piece of paper. Look at all the good paying jobs just recently lost, on a signature.

I can see a day when some piece of legislation requires auto companies to turn over GPS information from the data they collect from the cars. This will be due to tax by mile plans. Then the info will be sorted by speed and speed zones. We will get speeding tickets by mail, like the red light cameras and speed vans parked on the side of the road.

No real way to fight it either.

And that's part of my point. I am okay that Ford and the companies that it sells its data to knows how often I unlock/lock my doors and how often I seem to run out in cold morning and start my car and drive it after 5-10 min instead of right away. I am okay with it because that's what makes the technology affordable for me.

People complain that stat collection is everywhere, but then same people complain that things should not cost so much.

I am perfectly fine with the data collection (I don't break the law, don't even speed much (not often... not too frequently... maybe sometimes... but I digress...) because I would never be able to afford all of the technology in my car. If I had millions to burn and I wanted to pay $250k for my GT with the tech features (a d no data collection), I would do it, but i don't have that kind of money.

I respect anyone who is anti data collection, and they drive an old fox body, carry a flip phone, and don't use the internet or a computer, pay cash for everything.

But I find it funny when people want free gmail, free internet, and then also want to have companies not sell their usage data. Someone somewhere needs to pay for the services... and then they also get upset when I ask them, then you'd be willing to g lo back to AOL like service? And then they talk about what a ripoff AOL is. I stop talking to these folks because I get dizzy from their circular logic.

So which is it? Taste great or less filling? Corn syrup or not.
I stirred corn syrup and honey into a glass of horse piss. Still tasted awful.
I tell them that if they really don't want to be tracked, don't use the internet, don't use social media. But apparently they are okay with that... they say, "I use VPN..." I ask them, but you go on social media with your username??? Using your vpn??? it blows my mind.
Technology has far exceeded modern masses' comprehension. "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
Surreptitiously recording BT pings I'm not ok with. So my BT and gps and Wifi on the phone remains turned off unless I'm actively using it. Though some of these apps actually secretly turn on the locating services and just don't tell you.

Back to the covid shot.

If getting covid does not prevent you from getting it again, why would you think a vaccine will stop it?

When you get it your body develops antibodies that fight it.

When you get a vaccine your body develops antibodies that fight it.

Think for a minuet, why would one work and not the other?

What are we not being told?

Do the powers that be just want to keep us scared of the boogie man?

Curfews, business closures, gathering restrictions, travel restrictions, all are un-constitutional yet we go along with it.

Look at all the businesses that have gone belly up.

Why are we restricting healthy people? This is what I was taught the Soviet Union did to their citizens. I want no part of it.

Your papers please, at the county line.....

Have you considered the possibility that the aim might not be to eradicate the virus (in the short term), but rather to prime people’s immune responses so that when they DO become infected, the likelhood of death and/or health complications is reduced by some degree?
I don‘t pretend to have the answers, but we need to at least ask meaningful questions.

At the end of the day, vaccines have historically proven to be quite effective against some particularly nasty viruses.
The human body and it’s responses are vastly complex and varied from individual to individual.
We can’t even tell you the exact quantity of table salt that will kill you, even though we know the LD50 (the amount required to kill 50% of the participant) fairly accurately.

Without directing this comment at you directly (or indirectly), it seems as though there’s a decent portion of people who want scientists to make proclamations of absolute certainty and unassailable truth. The reality being that ”the truth” will vary over time as new evidence comes to light.

Finally, you ask why “healthy people” are being restricted....
Does the term “asymptomatic“ ring any bells?

LD 50 chart below for those who want to know how much salt (or other) is required to “likely” bump you off the perch.

Indeed  what were you thinking when you posted that you got your Covid shots

Dunno, might have been the innocent inclusion of 'Covid' in the title that took the pin out. Hopefully some folks will treat it as an opportunity to exercise moderation in their approach to the opinions of others no matter how far removed from their own.

IIRC there were a couple of other Covid threads on here that were a lot worse!

Unfortunately too many idiots exist here that need to interject their useless opinion that nobody asked for; even though the topic is about who is planning on or who already got the vaccine

What is even more entertaining are the back alley doctors who earned their credentials from Facebook and Twitter.
It is quite amazing people know Science better that the Scientists. I got my shot Saturday and I am damn happy that I did.

The government should have made the vaccine illegal, then everybody would demanded it be legal and then go down to corner drug pusher to buy it.
and you'd probably get more people vaccinated per hour than currently.
