^yes the air blows across both sides at the same time. The air is cooler out the exhaust while not in the seat.

The air was also cooler out the exhaust when I had the mod installed.
Hummm, seems like the warmer the exhaust temperature, the cooler the cooled side should be. But could also be because the fan was flowing more air when not suffocated inside the seat and could flow more air through both sides of the unit.

Glad to see this thread. My friend was just telling me how the last time we hungout, he finally tried his cooled seats on the 45 minute drive home. He said that the seat back got incredibly hot at one point. It was so hot, that he is worried about it being a potential fire hazard Lmao[emoji28]

From what I saw, when its trapped inside the seat it is basically blowing hot air across the both the cool and hot side. So the longer you run it, the hot side only gets hotter and then it just overpowers the cool side because all it is doing is recirculating that hot air.

When I was able to get cooled cabin air to it, both the hot and cool side were cooler.

Ok. Something funky happening.

Mine has worked since it got warm (south Louisiana, since February lol). Until yesterday. Before yesterday, I always felt cool air as far up as between my shoulder blades (in 6'2"). But yesterday it actually for warmer up there as described by others.

The system has the ability to work correctly. I may take mine apart and find out what's happening after it cool down some (95 deg at 50% humidity isn't any fun to work outside in)

Was you car parked out in the sun for a while? Th longer the seats soak up heat, the warmer mine can feel after turning on the cooled seats.

All day long. Which is normal for me.

So, after reading, all we need to do is figure out how to duct the discharge side (not the side going to perforations on seat face) out to cabin and allow cabin air into the suction of the fan?

Should be easy. I may play one day since mine has done it now.

precisely. Just add a longer duct and the cooling factor should be greatly improved. The normal method is to have it directed towards the outside of the seat (towards the driver rear tire)

I ordered two sheets of hard black plastic off of amazon for $10. 12" x 12" x 1/16". I read that it was a good size to shape once its heated up.

The way I see it I will make a template out of cardboard to determine all the cuts and bends. Might even attempt to shape it in a circle. Cut where necessary. Warm it up in the oven to shape the bends. Seal it and bolt it onto the existing screws and hook. I might stick with the shop vac duct because I haven't found anything better and its flexible. When the other mod was in place you couldn't tell it was there.

I might also try to do something with the exhaust but I still don't believe it is necessary. I was happy enough with the mod. It was never meant to be permanent.

Looks like the price went up a few cents since I bought it. I thought about buying more and making the duct as well but I'm not thrilled that we have to do something like this in the first place. My guess is we want see anything positive from Ford for a long while, if we ever see a solution at all.

Thanks man. Post pics when you're done.

I may tackle this one day in a couple weeks. Got my ex stepson this week on my days off so it'll have to wait. But I agree. Liable to be awhile unless more than a few message board dummies are complaining.

Take plenty pics please. I'm a little timid to start pulling on seat parts in my LE. Usually nothing bothers me lol

I think we will see a fix from Ford. The cooled seats not working correctly will get enough complaints to dealers where Ford will have to respond with an updated unit duct system to make them work correctly. Especially if they also make the 2016 model cars with the same issue. Just a matter of time before every Mustang chat board is talking about cooled seats that heat up on the back or don't cool at all on the back.

It might not hurt to also file a complaint with the NHTSA if anyone thinks there is a possibility of fire risk from the over heating units.

I like the heated plastic idea but I tried a slightly modified cai design. I got 1 1/4" clear vinyl tubing from Lowes and am using Gorilla tape. With multiple strip sizes and the holes Gorilla tape lives up to its strength claims, hopefully mine stays on but time will tell. For now though, I am experiencing noticeable cooling. I might even wrap the tubing in insulation and am even considering some larger upholstery vents for the heat but if I don't have to go there i won't. Fingers crossed.

How do you get to this part? Is it the upper seat back? This annoys the shit out of me the seat back heats up when i want cooled seats. Ill rig something up till ford issues a tsb and i can remove it before bringing it in.
