^^^ and you won’t see the leak unless you can get under the car to see the water pump weep hole - because once the seal starts to go bad the coolant will leak through the weep hole, that is by design.

If the water pump has never been replaced, then it’s most likely a WP issue.
yeah it has 100k miles and water pump hasn’t been replaced yet.

Sounds like the cap is letting coolant out the overflow it'll happen when you turn car off and let it sit for a while after driving.

Hey OP, it is your water pump that is failing.
On the 3.7L V6 engine the water pump is a known issue that will fail and it will happen just like this. There will be a coolant leak, but then it will go away. Will be hard to detect and your car will pass pressure tests.
Be on the lookout for this to actually fail. I would recommend getting it replaced while the car still operates normally in the in-between periods. It will happen more regularly as time goes by.
Hope this helps, cheers.
This! My 16 V6 did exactly the same as this back in Feb- no overheating, only small amounts of fluid under it, hard to see where it came from. Checked water pump weep hole, was wet. I got it taken care of right away. Unfortunately, someone kindly ran into me and totaled it 3 months later....

Usually on the underside of the snout. Just behind where the pully bolts to the shaft.
I thought someone posted a cutaway in this thread showing it.

Bottom of water pump behind lowest front pulley. Just look for moisture under/around that lowest pulley. I saw it just by looking down in that area while engine was running, then right after shutting it off. It wasn't much, just a few drops. It gradually gets worse until it fails.
