Hey All,

Recently completed the first tune of my 6r80 d1x GT. With the base pulley and pump it ran a 7.0@104 BUT it's very slow off the line as to be expected...best 60' was 1.75. It looks like the converter will only hold between 2000-2500 RPM.

Ultimately I'd like to get this car into the low 9's quarter mile wise with obviously more work, so I'd like a converter capable of it. The car will occasionally be street driven but mainly track. I was thinking a 3c or 4c on MT ET Street R's. Anyone have experience with either?

Not supercharged yet, but the 4C is awesome. Great street manners, and revs to its happy spot instantly.

Awesome, I honestly thought the 4c might be too loose for a street driven car. It seems like Circle D tends to recommend a 2 or 3c.

4c is just fine for a street driven car. I'm pretty sure they tend to recommend a tighter converter because they have to deal with less re-stalls that way.

Your best bet is to hit up Circle D and ask them for a recommendation. They helped me decide on the 2B and it's been perfect for me. That wouldn't be good for you, though.

I have a paxton on my car and circle D recommended at 3c or 4c. I went with a 3c and I am glad I did not go with a 4c. The car slips through the first three gears before the converter locks in 3rd. Just remember that opinions vary on street manners. It would be best to find someone local to let you ride in a car with a 3 or 4c. I have been 1.38 60 on a 3c.

Nice 60! Trans brake for foot brake? Street manner opinions def do vary, thats why they error on the side of caution. My Procharger/4c setup is just fine, they recommended 3c. I'm glad I didn't go with that as I didn't want to leave anything on the table.

I drove a 3C procharger car about a year ago, short drive around the block, and it drove very well. If it wasnt because I was told it had one Im not sure I wouldve suspected it.

3c to 4c is only a 200 rpm change. The slip/lockup is entirely in the tune setup. It could be commanded to lockup sooner. I however requested to have the lockup not happen until at least 40 mph and under a certain throttle position because I LOVE how it drives slipping!

Thats what makes it badass! If it wasnt slipping, there is no advantage to having the converter in the first place.

You switching for another setup?

If guys are pulling a 1.3x 60 foot on a 3c I honestly dont see how I'd need much more than that.
