The 3000 dollar coilovers Cortex offers still use a Koni strut though... What differentiates them from a ground control setup of the same nature outside of maybe the caster and camber plate?

I'm guessing your a hard parker that is more interested in the look of putting it in the weeds than performance. Cheap ass, crappy BC is probably your game then.
You can make all of the assumptions that you want -- I could care less about how my car looks when it's parked, the main thing I want is a set of comfortable coilovers with adjustable dampening & height.

I'm not going to be tracking the car often, it's mostly going to be used for some spirited driving with the occasional trip to ECR/MSR.

All Konis are NOT made the same. Cortex has been developing coil overs kits specifically for Mustangs for a long time. They also have a lot of research and development in their products that is produced from years of racing mustangs. They do offer a coil over kit that uses Koni dampeners, but the valving inside them is not the same as you will find elsewhere.

I did however just install a ground control coilover kit on my friends supercharged 2011 GT. He was originally going to go with cortex, but he never tracks his car. Initial impressions on the kit and ride are pretty good. If you are just going for looks then ground control is a great option. His ground control coilovers so far seem to perform better than the koni yellows and bmr springs he had before.

You referring to Kevin's car? Good system all around that he has.

Kevin's car, yes. He has definitely done it right. The supercharger has been being put to good use... I told him if he ever sells his car I want right of first refusal to buy it.

Even the lower end cortex set are monotubes, so, if what I think is correct, GC coilovers may be twin tube, so, not likely as durable, and settings may not end up being as accurate and repeatable. I could be wrong about this, but on some of tbe kits I've seen people comment that they are twin-tube, and it seems to me, if they were monotube, that they would advertise that as a feature.

I'm not being facetious... It was a legitimate question, WHAT is the difference. Evey ground control setup over used in the past is monotube. This is for Supra, 240s, and the like of course. Has cortex posted any shock dynos for these coils? 3000 is remote reservoir KW territory on most vehicles. I was decided on spending in the 3 to 4 range once some hit the market, it's just hard to spend 3000 on a Koni based setup without reasoning.

From reading around it seems like ground control uses a custom valved Koni Sport in ground controls own short strut housing. Cortex on the other hand uses custom valved 30 series Koni. The below info on the features of each dampener is straight from Koni's website.

Koni Sport: The KONI Sport is designed with high performance in mind. It will give a dramatic improvement in road manners over an original equipment shock. The Sport shock is generally adjustable externally and allows the user to quickly increase the damping forces of the shock for the occasional auto cross. The Sport has a slightly firmer ride quality at minimum adjustment than the Special. In most cases either a special or sport can be re-valved and have conversions to double adjustments done.

30 Series: The 30 Series Road Course shock features a steel body, four-position rebound adjustable, and a high-pressure mono-tube design. The rebound forces can be adjusted 100%, while the compression forces are pre-set. This design offers a wide rage of valving options to fit a variety of applications at an economical price. The 30 series dampers are available with a variety of valvings to meet your specific damping requirements and can be utilized with a coil-over kit if necessary. Attachments are ½" ID bearing on both ends. The 30 Series can be run inverted to reduce unsprung weight.

Honestly I am a big fan of Cortex, but the ground control kit really has surprised me with its overall quality and how well it performs. If someone isn't competitively tracking their car the ground controls seems to be more than up to the task of the fun track weekend.

I have contacted GC to see where they are for development on 2015 coilover kits. We'll see where this goes...

Are the coilovers more reliable and better for your suspension than springs in general? Not trying to jack your thread but just want to understand. Would like to stiffen up the ride and bit and drop it ~1" but I don't want to do that is the springs are going to cause the suspension to fail in the long run.

There are cheap coilovers just like anything else. There is nothing magic about coilover suspensions, you get what you pay for. For everyone not sure about suspension upgrades I suggest waiting for the FRPP Handling Package.

Ground Control will have coilover kits available late spring/early summer! Yeah they're not the super nice and extremely adjustable cortex or penske ones but you can pair them with decent Koni shocks and have a nice setup for the weekend autocrosser who daily drives the car.

Not something you want to hear but it takes time.

This is a part I wouldn't want a company to rush.
