i forgot your cooler wasn't directly infront of the rad like just about anyone with an oil cooler. i happned to stumble across something from honda about inferred oil temp that it could be taken from coolant temp and also oil pressure amongst other things. Presumably considering higher oil pressure would equate to a lower oil temp. Your Mishi kit has a 4-6psi pressure drop, which could lead to a higher calculated oil temp.

i have the ability to go back and use racerender from my last hpde session to overlay cylinder head and oil temp.
I have a analog oil temp gauge installed as well. It does show the actual oil temp slightly lower than the inferred temp (e.g., 265 vs 280), but it's still a little high for extended running. I can't say I noticed any drop in oil pressure with the Mishi cooler. I use Track Addict for my data.

While I absolutely love this car overall, I am finished trying to make it serve as both a DD and a track car. A purpose built race car (e.g., Spec Racer Ford) is in the budget for 2023!

I'd recommend against that positioning. First thing is that it would be very vulnerable to road debris. Second is that it'd be very tough to get good airflow to it. SVO has a good air entry. I'm curious what the air exit looks like. At the end of the day, you've got to get a bigger oil cooler than the Mish and you've got to cool the water much more than the stock rad.

At the end of the day, this is the real answer.

I think the Mishi oil cooler is too small to have any material impact on oil temp, at the track. I put mine up front, ducted around it, exhausting into the wheel well. Doesn't do much. A fan may help.

any more pics of how the cooler is integrated into the bumper?

Here is a front view pic. It vents out at the bottom of the wheel well. In reality, this car needs a much bigger oil cooler to have any material effect on oil temps.

To close the loop, I did buy a Spec Racer Ford. As much as I love my Ecostang, I'm going to have to sell it.
