I thought about going the other way with a tune. Make one for the track which is lower boost to be lower stress and easier to cool. If on E30, the chance of detonation/pre-ignition would be minimal and I think there is a cooling advantage to a higher alcohol content in the fuel. Some of the issue might be the stock engine tuning. The Ford engine mapping is just garbage and can't be doing us any favors.
Yeah, along those same lines, I thought maybe I'd just run the stock tune at the track, and any sort of "enhanced tune" for the street. But I'm not sure that is practical. I suspect once you install the COBB tune, it would be a PITA to go back and forth every time there is a track day.

I'm sure ethanol would run a bit cooler. Just a little uncomfortable going that route for a DD, i.e., not sure that I could always find E85, and get it blended right for E30, etc.

good god no! 3 blind church mice could write a better tune than Ford.
But if I can't keep the motor cool on track with 310 HP, more HP isn't going to make that task easier.

I've thought the same thing, but I think the stock tuning might be the cause of some of the temp problems. Maybe not, though, it was just an idea. The track tune I was considering was one at stock boost levels, but cleaned up fuel and ignition curves. I can tell the difference between my custom tune and stock just by listening to the idle. Ryan's tune is much smoother everywhere, even when you're just on his initial base map.

Going back and forth between tunes is no big deal. When I'm changing to or from E30, I load the map while the fuel is being pumped.

not sure that I could always find E85
It doesn't surprise me that it's hard to find, but it's ironic. You're in the Midwest. That's where ethanol comes from!

E30 is just 3 parts 91-93 to 1 part E85. It's not tough to mix.

I don't know that this really does anything for you. I called Ron Davis this morning, but you have to leave a message and they didn't call back.

i'm looking at picking up a used mishi oil cooler but not putting it in the grille area. There is a ton of room where the drivers side exhaust runs on the GT. this cat scratcher is roughly the size of the core. along with custom brackets i would probably find a way to include a fan. Luckily this is on the same side of the car as the oil filter, so the hoses could be shortened up.

I think the Mishi oil cooler is too small to have any material impact on oil temp, at the track. I put mine up front, ducted around it, exhausting into the wheel well. Doesn't do much. A fan may help.

i forgot your cooler wasn't directly infront of the rad like just about anyone with an oil cooler. i happned to stumble across something from honda about inferred oil temp that it could be taken from coolant temp and also oil pressure amongst other things. Presumably considering higher oil pressure would equate to a lower oil temp. Your Mishi kit has a 4-6psi pressure drop, which could lead to a higher calculated oil temp.

i have the ability to go back and use racerender from my last hpde session to overlay cylinder head and oil temp.
