You should only ever be transitioning that RPM range, not staying or cruising in it. I making the assumption that you have a manual trans but the fact remains, that's a bad RPM range to be in, anyway, and most any exhaust is going to drone if you insist on not being in the correct gear and RPM range.

I have Legato axlebacks with stock resonator and love the sound. I know that by adding X or H pipe they tend to drone due to straight pipe muffler design. Legato does not recommend X or H pipe with their axlebacks but some still like the X/H setup and that's what it counts imo

Its been said a few times in this thread already, but if you can afford it, buy a Corsa catback.

I have the Corsa Sport CB. ZERO drone at any rpm, and absolutely screams when you jump on the throttle.

Kooks h-pipe catback

I installed the Kooks 3" polished system. On the Highway at 2K it's nice and subdued. But since I have an automatic there is a hitch. The Kooks system is beautifully built and finished but it will drone if you are lugging the engine. By Lugging I mean running at 35mph in 5th or 6th gear. The RPMs are really low at that speed. Now guess what the normal mode wants to do with the auto trans.

If you guessed lug along around town you'd be correct. If I run Sport+ mode no lugging, no drone. Also no good MPG.

I think I will try the Euro trick of moving the exhaust tips out farther to see if that makes any difference...

From Vinnay:"that's a bad RPM range to be in, anyway, and most any exhaust is going to drone if you insist on not being in the correct gear and RPM range." I wish I had known this going in, but it means with the normal mode and auto, drone is going to happen when you change the exhaust.

Corsa's are raspy, Magnaflow's rumble. So depending on your taste you could go either way. I think the Corsa's are better because they have a racier sound but Magnaflow's a little cheaper.

This is from a guy who has neither on his car, just an opinion of others cars. I've never heard a drone complaint from either owners.

Its in plain English. Is English your second language?
I was questioning why you thought that. But since you wanna be rude instead of offering a logical explanation, I'll say this, you are completely incorrect. It is called an "overdrive" gear for a reason. There is no reason to be cruising on the highway in lower gears.

I've heard some drone complaints from a couple people running magnaflows. I had pretty nasty drone on a 2011 5.7 Grand Cherokee that had 6" round rear magnaflows and an h pipe in place of the front resonantor. Similar to the competition catback for these cars.

I completely agree and would also like to hear the logic behind that statement.

Low frequency's = Drone. No matter which exhaust you chose. Higher pitch exhaust systems have less drone.

If you want inexpensive, hit up Beefcake and get the MBRP street exhaust. I got it at an awesome price and love it. I have no drone and the exhaust is nice and mellow when cruising, but certainly opens up when you get on it.

For those interested in keeping your exhaust but eliminating the drone, there is full discussion here that might be useful.
