Hello All,

I did a search, but couldn't find the exact answer I was looking for. My GT now has 500 miles and I was planning on changing out the exhaust with a Gibson Performance cat-back tonight. The car has yet to be taken past 4500RPMs and I was wondering this.

:headbonk:This may sound stupid, but are there any adverse affects of changing out the exhaust before the break in period is over? I manily ask because the car's ECU has never registered over 4500RPMs yet. I don't know if the ECU may freak out once it registers non-stock exhaust flow past the O2s with the new setup at higher RPMs

Thanks in advance!

i'd quit going so easy on your engine, break in periods if done at all should be hard, especially if you will ever drive the car hard.

catback is fine, nothing will happen. i installed mine with 160 miles on the car.

I had the Ford Racing Sport installed 2 days after I got the car no ill effects.

I installed my cat back exhaust, intake, tuner and lower thermostat the day I got the car home from the dealer.

No ecu is going to pick up a difference with a catback. That said don't expect any gains from one. Look at it more as a music instrument to produce a sweet symphony from converted fuel and air.
