Change in oil recommendations

the 2011 GT owners manual recommends semi or full synthetic oil. I think the 2021 manual recommends only semi synthetic oil. Why the change ?

Not sure, but full synthetic is the way to go.

My best guess is Ford is hoping you’ll keep purchasing Motorcraft oil with that recommendation.

My engines seem to run the smoothest, no knocks, no complaints. I run my commuter WAY too long between oil changes and never have any issues, I run my mustang with it and don’t have issues, my truck lugs heavy nonsense around, never any oil related issues at all.

I ran full synthetic in my commuter once and it made a tick until I took the oil out.

Ford Synthetic blend 5W-30 in everything I’ve owned for the last 18 years. 5-7K oil change intervals.

Some of the newer F150 5.0's had oil consumption issues(not sure on S550's). Maybe that could be the reason? I agree Shifting_Gears, sly attempt by the Ford folks.

Full Synthetic isn't Full Synthetic any longer. It's all Fake Oil.

Same reason that nobody uses straight 40 weight anymore.
