I am getting a cat delete on my 2018 gt. I am getting 2m performance delete pipes in place of the cats.

The performance shop insists that the computer will adjust to the missing cat and difference in airflow and I do not need a tune. I asked him 'wont it run rich?' and they told me the computer will adjust. What do you guys think? Will i do any damage to the engine if I don't get a tune after deleting the cats? I know a CEL will pop up but will it cause any long term damage or will the computer actually adjust like the shop is telling me?

He is correct. You don't need a tune for a cat delete.

There is a way to tune out the CEL apparently, but my tuner won't don't that.

You will have no issues other than a cat inefficiency CEL. You can try spacers on the rear 02s like Big Daddy's CEL illiminator kits.

The computer will adjust and be good enough, however if you want to max the hp from the flow changes, it wont do it with just a computer difference and will need a tune to get the max hp gain

arguably not worth doing if you dont want to spend the money as na doesnt get crazy gains from this

Will I lose any power if I don’t? I hear people say that there is loss in low end torque

The passenger side cat is welded on the exhaust manifold. Just make sure you can reweld the cat back onto the passenger side cat if you have to smog it again. To be honest I don't think its worth it.

Thats for long tube headers
They lose a couple torque down low for a couple hp up high
Cat deletes dont really do that

Its mainly for noise

however the one thing it does help is remove cat protection protocol which reduces power at high exhaust temps but that would require a tune to disable it

That only happens when people put too big headers on an engine. Coyote's like 1 7/8 N/A

One benefit of getting a tune is you can disable cat overtemp protection which richens the air/fuel to cool the cats. If you disable this it's worth a little extra power
