Hi, 1st post here this is my 7th mustang I’ve had. (16GT)

this is not a post about sound recommendation or anything like that, I already know I want loud. This is a question about what’s required to make it work right.

I have a roush axle back and sounds nice, I definitely want it to be a lot louder. I like louder than most people do.

In all my old mustangs I’ve done an off road H to delete the cats and that is always excellent

my question is, if delete the cats and resonator on this, will the tune make it do something bad for longevity such as richen or lean it out too much? Or is the computer capable of compensating? Is there something I need to do to prevent annoying check engine light etc?

No tuner will turn off any emissions sensors/system

The stock tune doesn't care. It will continue on with its normal functions. Just like a legal aftermarket tune will. You'll notice nothing other than better acceleration & better fuel economy. As for the check light (cause you'll have a p0420/p0430), live with it or put some electrical tape over it.

Be forewarned it's not a guarantee to bandaid anything.
only thing I care about is not making the computer lean out the engine or something like that, as long as its safe and I can turn the CEL off, I'm good!!!

The problem will be finding the cat delete test pipes since most if not all are making them any longer.

As I said earlier, as far as the PCM is concerned it's business as usual. All a CEL eliminator does is turn off the CEL light by tricking the PCM. The rear O2 only job is to smell something different than the front widebands . The rears have zero to due with fueling the engine.

If the check engine light is on for no cats will it alter anything?

based on what was said above, no. the CEL would only be saying that there's an issue with that sensor, but that sensor itself won't alter the mapping.

The only reason I ask is because I have read that the engine will dump fuel into the exhaust in an effort to cool down the catalytic converters.

Hmm, well I haven't heard of this... but logically thinking.... how could it? there's no injectors into the exhaust pipe... putting fuel on hot exhaust would be starting a fire... and the fuel has to go through the cylinders which would mean its already burnt...

These cars use widebands for fueling and operate on lambda not A/F ratio. So will not lean out.

On these cars no.

Yes, this will happen. The ECU uses inferred cat temp and will dump fuel if it thinks the cats are too hot. Not sure if tuners are turning this off or not. Technically it is part of the emissions system.
That said it will not hurt anything to have the fuel dump with no cats present.
