Window Sticker link is now working. And only 16 days to estimated delivery. I've already contacted a local dyno tuner about after market cat backs, CAI, and tune to really make this Coyote growl.
I'm a bit new to the Mustang Tuner thing, so I'm wondering why I hear so many people mention they want a Cat Back exhaust system on their GTs? Aren't those for cars with 2 cylinder banks that feed into a single catalytic converter?

From the pics I've seen, the GT has full dual Exhaust (2 Cats & 2 Resonators/Mufflers) with what appears to be either an X or H crossover.

Cush -

I'm certainly no expert. Maybe some of the more knowledgeable members can weigh in. But it's my understanding that while good, the factory exhaust is somewhat restrictive which keeps the HP down and doesn't produce as good a sound as you can get with a good after market exhaust. And a cold air intake (CAI) helps to open up the flow of air thru the entire, naturally aspirated system. Add a good dyno tune, and I think you get even more HP and torque to go with the good muscle car sound.

I'd be interested to know folks' thoughts on the best set up for all of this. But this may be more appropriate for a different thread.

Definitely belongs in the Exhaust thread, and there's a bunch there about axle-backs and cat-backs. But anyway . . .

Yes, the Mustang has come with a true dual setup since 1985. And it's always been too quiet for more people. In addition, it's mostly been made of too-small tubing. (That problem got resolved for a while, but it's back this year in spades.)

A cat-back replaces all the too-small tubing and restrictive mufflers/resonators with larger (2.5" to 3") mandrel-bent tubes (without kinks) and a more-efficient (usually much louder) muffler setup.

Changing from the cats back is cool because it doesn't affect emissions compliance even in California. Changing the Cats is a big no-no in the Golden State; removing them is a problem in a lot of places.

Unless you are a hard-core racer, use your ears to choose a cat-back. It's mostly about sound. Almost all of them will add measurable if not perceivable power (who can feel 10 HP out of 200?) There are already a number of videos around the site; many of us believe that Stainless Works has set the bar pretty high as far as killer sound.

Thanks Old 5 Oh.

I've heard the sound of the Stainless Works exhaust in the video that's making the rounds, and I have to agree, it sounds awesome. My only concern is it might be too loud? I definitely want a good growl, and hopefully no drone or not much drone. I'm gonna work with my local performance/tuner guy.

I went to my dealer today to check on what they'd give me on trade in for my '08 G37 Sport since Ruby should be arriving in a few weeks. They low balled me big time so I've put the G up for sale on Austin Craigslist.

The dealership did let me drive a GT today. Wow! First time behind the wheel of one. Power was great. Now I just have to get back in the swing of a manual. Fun days are ahead.

Don't mind at all, 559Mustang. Their offer was $14,080. If you want to see the details of my G, it's now listed on Austin Craigslist with an asking price of $20,500, which, from what I gather from various sources, is a fair asking price.

Thanks I am hoping they offer me at least 17k any less than that would be horrible. I put it on Craigslist I had a bunch of people really waste my time and low ball me. I believe I listed it for 18.5k, I might try it again see if I can get someone to bite.

Seems like every dealer I talk to gets to the dealer trade value at KBB.COM.
