Greets All,

I had a question, which I think might only apply to the 2016 GT Premiums. I just installed today the Ford Performance By Borla Cat-Back Sport Exhaust System. Sounds awesome, But I ran into a dilema and wanted to know if anyone else who installed this or another Borla ran into where the X-pipe didnt fit in or over the pipes from the cats? Mine seemed to just butt up against one another and the sleeves slide over them and I tightened the bolts. I would expect this would be an exhaust leak even though the sleeves are over it.

Unfortunately when I was taking the OEM exhaust off I didnt pay attention to see if the OEM slipped in or over the cat pipes (Not that you could really see anything with the sleeves blocking your view. I called the Vendor and they said thats the way its suppose to be on the 2016, but I find it hard to swallow that answer, so I thought I would just ask to see if anyone else had the same situation.

Thanks.

I thought the same thing, but it appears most, if not all of them butt up to the cat side of the pipe instead of going in or over it. My J&M X-pipe also just butts up to the exhaust pipes. The sleeves actually sealed up really nicely and didn't leak for me, I was surprised. I guess there is some reason why they don't fit in or over the pipe from the cats (I assume so anyway). I do have small leaks from the axle-back which slide over the stock exhaust pipe, I've though about getting some of those band clamps like they use on the X pipes and trying them on the axle-back since they seem to work much better.

Thanks 2015Etrac, I specifically got cat backs and not axle backs so I wouldnt have to cut them and screw up, and for proper fit for no leaks, but when I saw the x-pipe but up against the cat pipes I was like wtf? And honestly I dont know if the OEM butt-ed up against the cat pipes also, like I said the sleeves block your view.

But at least your response kinda put me at ease, again not that I like the butt up idea, and because of the sleeve I cant even put like pipe tape around the two to seal it.

Yeah, it would be easier if you could just unbolt the existing setup and bolt on the new one but it seems like most of the exhaust and X/H pipes need the existing pipe to be cut. I'm not sure why the back half is welded on the resonator and the front half is bolted. Mine works well butted up to the existing pipe with the band clamp, once it's tightened it seems to seal well, just make sure to tighten it good. I was worried about leaks because my cuts weren't perfect, so it wasn't even fully butted with the existing pipe when I clamped it.
