Check for coupons before you head to Harbor Freight if you haven't yet. You can just download their app to get the coupons

I have 2 Harbor Freight 3 ton steel floor jacks. 1 of those is a low-profile. Both have been used for at least 5 years now and never had a single problem with either. I also have several Harbor Freight 3 ton jack stands and never had a single problem with those either. Before anyone makes a comment about it, no, my jack stands weren't in the recall.

I've got these jack stand pads so I don't scuff anything up. They've held up great so far. For the floor jack, I don't use a puck or a pad. Instead I use a block of wood on top of the floor jack mount.

My local HF has a huge sign out front that says first responders, medical workers, etc get a 20% discount with ID.
It doesn't say there are any restrictions but idk if there are or not. The 20% discount that is in all their flyers/online speciffically excludes floor jacks.

Does Healthcare IT count as a medical worker?

I have harbor freight going on 3 years, Daytona one. hasn't let me down, they have coupons for like 20% off and stuff too mailed out monthly to me.
Just be aware that the standard 20% off Harbor Freight coupons do not work on floor jacks. You have to find the coupons that specifically work on floor jacks. I have two of the aluminum 3-ton HF jacks and love them.

My $0.02

Do not buy the HF 1.5 ton low profile aluminum jack.
My first one bent like an S while holding up one quarter of the car.
It.would not retract, had to use my back up scissor jack to get it out from under the car.
Got another thinking it was a defect, but will not use it without 2 Jack stands as well.

My feeling is that it would. I know my hospital is pretty screwed up when the internet goes down. Last time it happened we canceled 80% of the surgeries for that day. Take your ID on and ask.

I've got an Arcan old school steel low profile jack I've owned since the late 90's. Seriously. First time I did any maintenance at all was last year when I added a little bit of jack oil. Great jack. 3 ton. Yes jacks weigh a lot, but I don't understand the reasoning behind wanting a lightweight aluminum one. For me, I want the sturdiest thing out there when jacking the car up.

Nevertheless, yes, if you got $150 to buy a jack and jack stands, buy a $50 jack and $100 stands.

However...I have a Quickjack now, so most of the time I just use that. Never hurts to throw some jack stands under it though, even though tests have shown it supports more than 16,000 pounds (For my model, which is rated at 5000 pounds).

I wish I would have bought the quickjack when I was in my 20's...but that was a LONG time ago, back when we used fred flintstone and his dinosaur crane to lift things.
