Still trying to justify the app ................

Im with you. I was in a different boat. I was doing the 4"-8" conversion on my base 300a, which is done and I am so happy with it. The dealer said to do the modem first just in case something in the APIM had to be fixed and I did the conversion, Ford may have an issue with this. So I fixed the modem. The app is kind of cool if you are in a parking space and forgot where you parked. Or you have an auto (which I don't) you can do a remote start from a mile away if you want.

Heck, if it can't cook, can't do laundry ................. No need for it. I've lived all these years without it.

So I started the car and pulled out of the carport to get a clear signal. I wiped data and cache from FordPass app. As soon as I did I got an alert on car screen that Vin was disconned. I opened FordPass app again and signed in and it automatically added my Mustang. Then I went thru approval process on both screens and bip, bam, boo Bob's your uncle I'm all set. 😊👍

Just a personal preference, i dont like being tracked, read Ford Passes eula. Then if you want to lock/unlock the car from St. Thomas, get it working.

It wasnt worth what little data/reminders i got, to give ford as much data as they could sell.

So just curious, do you have Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram? Or even a smartphone today? All of your data is already tracked and pretty much given away. Anyone that thinks otherwise is really stretching the truth. Even using this forum, you are giving data and tracking away based on your posts.

No arguing the tracking point, I don't like all the tracking that takes place today either just think its comical given the fact that you are already tracked with your cellular technology.

The tracking was interesting. My wife and I were in Chicago for a weekend and one of our granddaughters was staying at our condo, taking care of the cats. I told her that she could drive the Mustang while we were gone. Another granddaughter also came over to stay for the weekend - they went to Ann Arbor (only about 20 miles away) and I looked at the Ford Pass and said to my wife, "well they didn't take Carolyn's car, the Mustang is in Ann Arbor".

Later they were at another house and my wife was wondering why they were over there and called. She said, "how did you know we were here?"

I believe the objective is to limit one's exposure. That is what burner phones are for. Does Ford need the data ? No ! The F P A is not what most would consider a necessity.

Ah yes….The burner phone argument. Still trackable regardless of what you think. As soon as you log into it with any personal information…..you are tracked. Burner phones today ARE NOT the same as they were when they first came out. EVERYTHING is traceable today.

I honestly don’t care either way if someone uses the app or not but for a “privacy” argument, its BS.

Not here to argue or debate.

Trackable ? Yes. However, one does not register it using ones pertinent information. When I buy a phone, I walk in, pay cash, leave. Set up the phone using public wi-fi using name of deceased person. Ditto my chromebook. Google can have my location for all I care. Home Depot, Lowes, public libraries, hotels. Many places have open wifi. It is not hard to stay off the grid if one wishes to.
